a huge problem with the 'redux' effect

Post by ayrtonhoody » Wed Sep 12, 2012 9:40 pm

i make a dubstep 'yoi' using a square wave in simpler, then filter it with the auto filter, and apply the redux effect, producing the 'yoi', sound in many dubstep and other electronic music today. however, there is a huge problem with the effect. when i export the track as a WAV file, the 'yoi' sound is exatcly the same as it was before i applied the redux... making the whole thing absolutely pointless. i am using ableton live intro 8, on a laptop running windows 7. can anyone help me?

Are any other tracks involved to make this sound, or is it just simpler with some audio effects on it?

Seems like you're doing it wrong!

Seriously though - have you ever got it working with any effect?

I don't know why it would be doing that. I assume you mean a Yoy bass effect like this one:

Dubstep Yoy Vocalish Bassline

Otherwise you can try a different bit crusher effect. They all sound basically the same (just a few have extra things). I like TB Timemachine Bit Crusher. There's a link to it on my free VST page here (not sure if lite version of Live will let you use VSTs tho...):

in your project, record the sound to an AUDIO track.
the important thing is to set the input right,
Create an audio track, open the i/o tab and choose the midi track with simpler as input source,
THEN just under this box, choose POST FX.

You are ready to record it

yess, seems like you ran into the same thing as i before. do you work in 44khz then export to 96 or 192khz? redux effect is relative to the sample rate so try export with the same samplerate settings
