You do realize that Psy news coverage is pretty much on par with the Kardasians and Kate Middleton. This isn't exactly some hidden underground gem you're talking about here.

lol no it is a parody. On music videos from the West and the general direction of pop music over the last decade.

I mean yes, of course, every record must be set before it is broken.
The fact that a k-pop star that no one had ever heard of until a couple months ago just broke LMFAO's record is definitely notable, and this thread, appropriately posted in The Lounge section, is solely meant to make light of this achievement.

Don't try to undervalue PSY's massive achievement just because he is suddenly popular.

It's a pretty massive achievement, given that nobody can yell along with 90% of the lyrics, and terrible English lyrics are usually what makes a song as popular as it is.

I thought I maybe just don't get or like K-pop so I checked out this video.

Dude's goofy commentary aside I think it probably represents the genre accurately. It's western pop with Korean lyrics. Virtually indistinguishable other than language. I liked some of the songs presented.

I'm probably one of the few people on here that loves current pop music. But if that's the yardstick by which we are going to measure, Gangnam Style is the Ice Ice Baby of K-pop. As I also mentioned in the other thread, I don't consider this one song a definition of Psy's entire history or catalog. Nothing against the man.

I get the general masses' attraction to this "exotic" song, but I don't get why it's presented on a music forum, full of music snobs and elitists, multiple times like it's some huge music breakthrough. We might as well get in a discussion on Lady Gaga's under appreciated genius.

So vlox757, please explain why you are all excited about this.

@beats me: my dude, I was just sharing an interesting bit of information. I'm sorry you don't find it interesting.
and once again, this is The Lounge. I've seen people talk about far more mundane things in here than a Guiness World Record being broken.

Your "awesome" in your OP insinuates that you agree that this video is so great that it deserves to break the world record along with the fact that you started a new thread advertising it. Records are always made and broken but you felt this was important enough to bring to our attention.

When I suggest lets have a conversation about it you're all "just stating a fact, bro. Peace."

Fucking internet. :x
