Stuttering, filtering, gating, fx & etc - post production

I'm talking about fx that you want to implement on every single element of a tune all at once. So once you have finished structuring that precious new track, how do you implement your FX? (such as beat repeat/stutters, gating, etc)

The only FX I've ever used on a master channel (other than the mastering chain) is a filter, for filter sweeps down & up obviously. I figure it might be cool to chop up a new track once it's completely finished and bounced down for momentary stuttery fx/beat reapeating. In theory, it seems like a good idea. It also seems that it might be cool way to do some gating and record-brake type fx.

Anyone do this or have any interesting tidbits to share related to putting the final fx on a tune?
