Like into the arrangement, and have it stop after its midi or audio clip ends? I'm using vinyl distortion on a track now, and its pretty much permanently in the background unless I un-arm the track. Which is annoying lol. All I want to do is record it for a couple of seconds during my intro, and have it stop playing after that.
I also noticed doing a quick test. If you draw in a blank clip on an audio, or midi track and then bounce the file/project. Vinyl distortion will play/show up on the mp3 for however long you made the clip. What gives?! I want to be able to hear it while I'm still working on the track........because I'm OCD like that and produce in a very linear manner, and this being my intro is not helping lol.
Quick Summary
- Vinyl Distortion plays permanently in the background, but can only be herd when its track is armed.
- Unless you draw in a blank clip then you won't hear your vinyl distortion in the bounced and or exported mp3/wav.
- I want to hear my vinyl distortion for the length of a clip I draw in, and not at all after that. (You know like regular audio/midi) within the project file/live set.
Can you record the vinyl distortion effect in real time?

Yes, that effect makes a noise unless you turn it off or down or mute the track. I don't think you mean 'arm' by the way - that's to do with recording.yeaokwali wrote:- Vinyl Distortion plays permanently in the background, but can only be herd when its track is armed.
Huh? What exactly are you exporting, and what are you 'drawing'?yeaokwali wrote:- Unless you draw in a blank clip then you won't hear your vinyl distortion in the bounced and or exported mp3/wav.
Do you understand that effects in Live are on tracks, not attached to clips? What you can do here is use the arrangement automation to switch the effect on and off where you want. Right-click on the effect's Device On switch and you should see its automation lane on that track. Use the Draw Tool to have it 'up' where you want the effect on and 'down' for off. You could also use an envelope in each clip to modulate the effect's parameters (like volume), but that might be a bit more involved and you'd need to have the volume (for instance) turned up before you could modulate it down. I'd say just automate the on/off if you're working in arrange view.yeaokwali wrote:- I want to hear my vinyl distortion for the length of a clip I draw in, and not at all after that. And really - if you just want a bit of it for an intro - just turn it on with nothing else and export a few bars. Then you'll have some audio with the effect you can use however you like.

After re-reading my original post. Its like a light-bulb went off, and I came up with the idea for the sec method lol....the whole exporting the blank clip thing, and dropping it back in as audio. I like the on/off automation trick to, and hadn't thought of that.massenmedium wrote:Yes, that effect makes a noise unless you turn it off or down or mute the track.
