Every other phone on earth has adopted the micro USB cable standard that you frequently get for free in a box of cereal. but why use something that works across multiple platforms, has a small footprint, is 100% effective and leaves the user with good odds of having more than one available on hand or very near? also, why keep the second most common adapter after building it up by leaving no other choice for the better part of a decade just so it can be changed [last week] with size as the excuse... as if the part that actually connects to the device wasn't thin enough and all the fat trimming couldn't possibly happen on the bulky part you hold between your thumb and forefinger?? i mean, why?![]()

According to Apple micro USB can’t support the syncing and transferring capabilities idevices need. According to Apple.
I just checked where I am on Apple's new map app. It had me boucing around a 50 sqaure foot area at a rate that isn't humanly possible, not to mention I was sitting completely still.
Friday night I tried showing my freind the new 3D maps but it was a complete fail becuase it took ages to redraw from all us winners slamming the servers at the same time.
I only partially accept Apple’s defense of their maps app, in short it needed to go out to the world in order to be refined because it’s so vast that a team of engineers sitting in a building can’t make it flawless on their own. Also Google has a full 7 years more experience with their maps than Apple.

RIOT AT FOXCONN! RIOT AT FOXCONN!
7000 police were sent in. They should have sent 14,000.
Next thing they will be forming Unions then making demands. Then...Vietnam will step up and present 10s of Thousands willing to work for a few scrapes of rice per week. China will be plunged into a massive recession if they don't get a handle on this labour issue nonsense toot sweet.

Meanwhile in the other hemisphere Apple is willing to pay the equivalent of 10,000 factory worker’s salaries to anybody formerly from the Google maps team.

, but it's fucked up. LSZ nailed it on the size of the police force.
sorry about the caps
.
where i will give it to Apple... theirs sits better in a docking... anything? the sturdier of the two is by far the Apple jack. i've been involved with more than a phone or two where the mini (not micro) USB connector failed. aside from maybe stepping on it, it seems more likely to break the glass than the jack on an iPhone.
in terms of maps... uh yeah, Google drove around in special vans all of the country for years to get where they are (like it or not)... Apple just got sold a map pack.
sounds like somebody that formerly worked on the Xbox marketing team brokered that deal.
sorry about the caps
i want to believe that. it probably supports more than one connection right? sure, but so does the smaller USB connector (around 32 connections i believe). both types also provide a means to power the device.beats me wrote:According to Apple micro USB can’t support the syncing and transferring capabilities idevices need. My iPhone5 rattles when I shake it. I think those Foxconn peeps are slacking I think.

You sure it's not just the lens autofocus mechanism? My iPad and iPhone also rattles.Tarekith wrote:My iPhone5 rattles when I shake it. I think those Foxconn peeps are slacking I think.
Re: iPhone5
Neither of those rattled for me, so I don't know. No use taking it to the Apple store now, since supply is so short I'd be wasting my time. Guess I'll wait a few weeks and take it in. Not a huge deal, but annoying.

The rattle is the tiny bones of the magic unicorn stuffed inside that died so that you're device can live.

might as well wait the few weeks until the paint falls offTarekith wrote:Neither of those rattled for me, so I don't know. No use taking it to the Apple store now, since supply is so short I'd be wasting my time. Guess I'll wait a few weeks and take it in. Not a huge deal, but annoying.

Here’s where the issue lies also: the paint is very thin and not particularly well protected. It will scratch off very easily revealing the naked aluminum underneath. So, however durable, sturdy and rust resistant it is, you’ll need to keep your iPhone in a case/pouch if you want to ensure it’s not damaged by keys/rings on your person or in your purse/handbag. On a plus note, if you want to give your iPhone a custom “plain aluminum look” you shouldn’t find it to hard to get rid of all the paint, leaving your iPhone looking much more like the original metal’s color.

Shillers response to reports of the iPhone getting scratched up:
I’m now convinced that Apple employee’s simmering distain for Steve when he was alive is now being allowed to run the company. Every company decision starts with the same question "What would Steve not do? Do that."
Steve would have ordered mandatory overtime companywide over the last week, not to fix problems, but for an appropriate amount of time for verbal beat downs for poor execution and statements made to the media in response.
We may have to send in black ops to rescue Ive.

Any aluminum product may scratch or chip with use, exposing its natural silver color. That is normal.
