Now I think the guy is just being exploited. I think the world is just hotly embracing him because it’s a welcome change to all the negativity in the world that gets rammed down our eyes and ears, but it’s going way over the top with how meaningful the song supposedly is and every entertainment news source trying to get a piece of the action with some new angle.
There’s been similar flashes in the pan, mostly started from reality TV contest shows.

I know there's been fake "North Korean" parody videos of Gangnam Style but now there's an
actual North Korean video parodying Gangnam Style!

The North Korean video starts with a picture showing a person apparently in the midst of performing the world famous horse dance from "Gangnam Style." The face stuck on the dancing figure is that of Park Geun-hye, the candidate for the governing Saenuri Party in the upcoming South Korean presidential election."
