6 Foot 7 Foot Kick Drum Sample Request

Post by BoraVeli » Sat Oct 06, 2012 3:33 am

Could someone please help me find/make the kick drum sample from lil wayne - 6 foot 7 foot.

I'm going crazy trying to make it. I've spent the last 6 days without getting close.

I read on another forum the sample is from Reason 5's Kong Drum Library is this true?

808 kick with longer decay time + distortion OR heavy limiting OR heavy saturation.

song sucks btw, np

instead of picking a stock 808 kick...

1) insert two tracks
2) on track A pick a kick drum you like
3) on track B pick a sub bass
4) put a gate on the sub track
5) have the gate on track B side-chained to the kick on track A and adjust the gate settings to taste. once this is set up, the sub sound will only come through each time the kick hits.

this will give you more flexibility in shaping your sound because the punch of the kick can be tweaked separate from the sub. you can pick different kicks and different subs as well. start with sounds that you like, then work on the saturation etc.

one of my all time fav hip-hop tunes. '...real g's move in silence like lasagna'

@marcoskohler your opinion sucks btw, np

Thanks RCUS I'm pretty close to getting the kick the same. It's hard to get it to KNOCK as hard. I've got to find the right Distortion too, that's a huge part of it.
