Mouse issues with the new beta 8.4b8

Post by filler1 » Mon Oct 08, 2012 3:18 am

I tested 3 different mouses, and all of them cause haywire issues with the arrangement view. The track pad works fine on my laptop, but whenever I use the mouse with the new beta, the mouse will create time signatures that will get stuck, and wont click on anything. The mouse works fine in the piano roll, but doesn't work with the arrangement view. I never had this problem with previous betas. I have 3 brand new mice, and they all give me the same issue. What is strange, is that the mice work fine with everything else. All other programs, FL-Studio, Reaper, and basic computer scrolling and clicking.

Very, very strange.

I think its gotta be the new beta causing the issue

Hi filler,

Sounds like a live Issue indeed.
Please describe step by step what you do to reproduce these errors and what exactly happens and we will try to reproduce it.

1) Observed behaviour
2) Expected behaviour
3) Did you find a workaround?
4) Is it reproduced on other computers?, Is it reproduced with Live 8.3?

best,
Mads

I think I may have been running a device at the same time as Live. I must have. Maybe my itunes was open. The problem went away for now. If it comes back, I will provide the steps you asked for

Hi Filler,

Ok. Lets keep the thread open if others can reproduce the problem or if you find clues as to why it happens.

It doesnt happen all the time, but usually when Im 10 minutes into the project. There was a situation months ago, when I had a Slim Phatty synth. The synth would send wacky midi messages to Ableton, and cause complete audio drop outs. This was addressed by the head tech support guy at moog, and he stated that he believed the OS of the slim phatty was not syncing up with Live correctly.

What I believe is that it might have something to do with midi. Possibly when live accepts messages, it can confuses itself when too many things are going on at once. I dont know, just a guess.

Getting progressive mouse freezes.

Abletons been open for around 20mins now and it's getting worse.

A little loops running and JBridged Sytrus.

Lag went after 5mins - Nothing else was freezing - audio was fine.

Hi NeuroJazz,

Are you sure its not the entire system locking up?.
What does you memory / CPU load look like when calling up activity monitor?
Does the freezes occur without the Jbridged plugins?

Just running Omnisphere 64bit non jbridged - CPU is showing 9-12% - Ableton is showing 60-64% cpu load. When initially loaded there was huge spike for 2-3 seconds in main cpu in the windows task manager and then has settled - will try to reproduce the jbridge error to confirm it's mouse intereference in a bit - but seemed to just be sytrus.

Changed mouse configuration - did heavy CPU test and all fine - my bad!

Had a wireless mouse and the enhance pointer precision and dodgy usb location for the mouse receiver caused the glitching.
