How do I live loop a midi track in session view?

In arrangement view I can play continuously and the loop will overwrite itself each time around. I know how to record a live loop inside a clip in session view, but it won't overwrite the previous loop the next time around. I want the ability to play continuously while the loop overwrites itself each time around inside the clip in session view. I know how to record midi in session view by record enabling a designated clip but I use the clip to activate patches so I need the clip to be playing while I rehearse my loop. Is this possible in Ableton?

You can also drop a looper device on the track, depends on your workflow.
