^ mid term he still hadn't got his feet wet.

imagine inheriting the Rove/Cheney/Rumsfield/Bush mess and being expected to solve it without pissing anyone off.

that's like being at ground zero on Setp 12 2001 and the foreman saying... "okay boys, we've got 72 hours to clean this shit up".

what did Bush inherit when he came to office?? - a credit card with a zero balance and a (for MOST healthy intents and purposes) damn near unlimited credit line, that's what.

yeah funny that - I thought conservatives were supposed to be against spending.

War is expensive though. That's why I find it amazing to see these tea party people acting like it's immoral to want to make sure everyone has health care, yet the only reason the country can't afford it is because of how much is spent on the military. I saw a graph somewhere recently saying the US spends 3 times the rest of the world COMBINED on military. You would at least hope if they are off building an empire that the citizens would at least benefit from it. Oh wait, 1% of them are! ;-)

Wrong.

They think it's immoral that GOVERNMENT would run healthcare. Big difference.

I don't know why people struggle with this concept. ffs.

Government is shit and wasteful. Pure and simple. I'll give you a great example on a local level: There's been a section of road near my house that has been under construction for 8 months. This is a ONE QUARTER MILE section of road; nothing complicated. Straight as an arrow, with a very slight incline. It's standard asphalt paving. No curb. There's new 5' diameter drain pipe - approximately 3 6' sections - that also are being installed on a little run-off area to the side.

8 months later and they are only half done.

Let's be clear. This is a 100% local and county run road project. It's managed ENTIRELY be the local government.

Half done. 8 months.

Don't know if you understand anything about construction, but that's nothing short of I N S A N E.

I can give you a dozen examples of FEDERAL projects that operate in the same fashion. Shit, can we talk about Federal government waste in Afghanistan and Iraq? Where massive NO BID contracts are STILL being handed out by the Obama Administration to build shit over there? Where vast sums in that budget still go missing on a regular basis at any given time?

..and people actually sit back and have the fucking nerve to dream of some National Healthcare System.

I love how the Federal Government has managed the big banks by not reinstating Glass-Steagall and continuing to get on their knees to suck them off.

Awesome.

Yes, please run my healthcare and tax me more. I love it.

I mean, my God.

EVEN RON PAUL WAS AGAINST REPEALING GLASS-STEAGALL FFS.

omfg.

Yet Obama - the Saviour of the 47% (or was it 99%? Fuck, I can't keep track) - never once suggested putting this most BASIC of protections back in place. The kind of basic protections that...uh...first and foremost PROTECTED the MOTHERFUCKING 47%

well, we manage it fine in other countries... maybe because we don't spend trillions on military

put it another way - people should not have to die or mortgage their house just to get basic health care because of some intellectual justification of what govt might or might not manage in theory

look at most other civilised countries in the world for examples of how it can work.

sounds like there's something particularly screwy with your local council there

michael moore did a great job of showing it up by getting the cubans to treat your 9/11 heroes for free. I mean how can you justify that? really?

It's just another right wing whiny "but I don't wanna help other people" greedy and selfish load of balls.

fixed.

I can't speak to government corruption and wastefulness and overall fucking glaring INEPTITUDE in the countries your talking about, but here? In the States? Fucking RIFE.

Talk about a load of balls: There was a time not long ago when people on Left distrusted government on any level and started a worldwide Revolution that placed massive distrust on government and authority. Rightfully fucking so.

Now look at them. Government has truly become the Jesus Replacement. A mystical magical figure that somehow is going to take care of everyone.

Fucking sad.

Wrong.

They don’t want one cent of their money going towards subsidizing health care for somebody they aren’t related to, whether it’s on the local, state, or federal level because everybody they aren’t related to is either a crack head or illegal alien.

The most rich and capable country on earth is also a can o’ selfish cunts.

Wrong.

They have the common sense to know that the government will take their money, misfuckingmanage the entire system, then make them wait in line for open heart surgery.

My God. It's already a fucking nightmare to go to the Doctor's office now for a simple checkup.

omfg.

And we're actually talking about government managed care? Like that's going to streamline the fucking system?

...I'm just going to leave this here.

Please note the massive size of Medicare spending. All you Libs whining that my tax dollars aren't already going to a MASSIVE government run healthcare system.

Oh, and Social Security. Another massive government run system.

Christ. We're already Socialists. lol.

The military budget is appalling, but we know this. Obama hasn't done shit to stop it, either. Why would he? Obama sucks off the same corporate war machine tit that Bush did.
