Song sketching with Ableton on physical instrument

Here is a preview video of my latest project using only my double bass.

All the music playing during the video was made only using am upright bass.

In the initial stages, it was amazingly fast to sketch out the songs parts using a midi foot controller and setting it up as a 'mackie control' to navigate the session view with your feet. For anybody that uses one instrument, and hasn't heard of this method you've got to try it. You can get the midi map of mackie control here:

Map the controls for up, down, left, right, clip launch, scene launch, undo, then own your own midi notes (midi note 102 or higher) map buttons to the metronome click, play and stop on the transport and your good to go! There are older forum posts on the topic but feel free to ask questions if you run into any issues.
