Is there a trick to fix an over compressed signal.
Is there a trick to fix an over compressed signal.
I have a couple of loops that are heavily compressed that I no longer can get ahold of the original files.
Is there any trick make it sound better?

try a multiband compressor/expander, it might get you some of the way. you will never get it back to the original of course.

As mentioned, an expander might help some, or one of the transient shaping plug ins.

Even a Gate can do it, but it's not so easy to program it....

if they're only loops, you could try drawing in some volume modulation.
