Previewing unwarped samples
Previewing unwarped samples
When you have an unwarped sample, it isn't possible to click on the waveform to jump to different sections of it to listen to it (as you can with warped ones).
I often use unwarped samples to cover bpm transitions, and not being able to easily preview them is annoying.

Re: Previewing unwarped samples
Add one warp marker at the beginning of the clip.
Set clip BPM to master tempo.
BAM!

BAM!
Re: Previewing unwarped samples
Thanks for both the suggestions, but neither solves my problem.
As I said, I often use unwarped samples (e.g. some spoken word, or a jingle) or a track with no beats at the start/end to change between bpms (e.g. a transition from 120bpm to 140bpm). I therefore want to be able to preview the unwarped sample easily, so that I can remind myself of how it sounds or to know where to start or cut it before playing it.
1) Warping the sample, and setting the bpm to master, helps me to preview, but I then need to unwarp before playing. Ok, this is only a few extra mouse clicks but is annoying.
2) Moving the start marker around means that you have to continually stop and restart the sample - if it is already playing then moving the start marker cause the track to skip, and you're never quite sure where it will skip to. It's messy and fiddly, and you then need to move it back to where you want it to start at the end if you've been trying to listen to a mid section.
Why can't you just fast forward and skip through an unwarped track in the same way that you can a warped one? Even itunes and windows media player lets you do this!!

Re: Previewing unwarped samples
honestly.
it's so stupid and annoying that we cant do this.
when previewing and going through foley, or perhaps your own custom field recording, library you will want to hear how it sounds without any artifacts at all, in the same pace it was recorded.

If you need this and have a little cash, you can try Audiofinder. I would love that ableton will partneship with companies like that and not only with companies that do sample libraries or vst software.Until you have this feauture in Live try the demo. It,s a shame that Live lack feautures like this.

Exactly. Such a simple feature but would be really useful all the same.friend_kami wrote:honestly.

Does anyone from Ableton every look at this forum, or are we shouting into space?
