live5 -scrubbing and recording simultaneously?
live5 -scrubbing and recording simultaneously?
I heard somewhere, that it's possible to scrub through the arrangement and record this new arrangement mix. I tried it several times, but when I press the record button and start moving the speaker icon, live5 stops. And I don't want to record the main out as a wav file.
Hi guebu,
What you heard is true, you can record into the arrangement as you scrub. Hit the Global record button (not the track arm) and start playing your clips. However try moving the loop braces in clip view rather than the speaker icon. When you go to arrangement view you should have an audio track with the moves you made included.
The other thing you can do to create an audio clip of your scrub movements is to resample audio from one track to another. Click the "Audio From" menu in a new audio track, and select either resampling or the track number you want to record from. When you hit track arm for the new track and click the start button on one of it's clips and start noodling with your original clip, you'll be making a new clip of whatever you are doing as you scrub your first clip around.
HTH
[EDIT] Just realised you're talking about scrubbing through arrangement view. OK, do the same as described above, but start the clip recording the resampled audio going in session view, then switch to arrangement (hit tab) and start scrubbing around your arrangement. Once you stop, tab back to session view, and you should have a new clip with all your moves recorded as audio. You can then drag this into arrange view, or record the clip's playback into arrange view as normal.
