Thann to upgrade.
Surely that's wrong?
It's telling me that it's 199 euros to upgrade.

I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

Finally somebody has started a thread about Ableton's pricing structure.

I have the same, and from what I understand and have been told by support, when 9 launches we will be given an additional offer, hope this is true.
iMac, MacBook Pro, Ableton Live 8 Suite,Ableton PUSH Komplete 8, Logic Studio,Launchpad x 2, iPad (Lemur), M-Audio Keystudio, Akai MPD18, ...

I guess another 20€ off at the time of release but that would be still too much!
Hope goes last though...

I am a huge proponent of Logic, but what you pay on the Mac app store is not the cost of Logic. Apple charges that price because that price serves its broad interests.

Live 9 and push look very promising, although push is looking like a simpler version of the nativekontrol templates for launchpad and apc40, which I use on a daily for production and performance. I do look forward to being able to convert audio to midi and locate sounds faster.
I'm right here with all of you suite mfl owners. I would love to get my hands on push and live 9 suite but the upgrade info isn't available to us yet. Hope they post an update for all of us Suite Mfl owners soon, while theyre at it why not post the release date? I'm glad they finally announced 9 and push tho. I was on the fence with maschine and the new mpc. Now lets see how this pans out.

When you buy Live Suite and M4L, it becomes a very expensive app compared to it's competitors.

Apple can afford to sell Logic cheap...
they use Logic Pro pricing as a stepping stone ... to get people to buy Macs for outrageous prices

Questionable comment. Anyway, you get a lot for $190 indeed. And with flex mode you could do same kind of time stretching as with Ableton Live.3dot... wrote:Apple can afford to sell Logic cheap...

If Logic has the same fast "automatic" preview/browser as Live, i would ditch Ableton in a heartbeat. Hopefully Logic X has this.

You can't compare price politics of huge corporation who sells iPhones and small company (compared to Apple) dedicated only to music software...

it's lucky you didn't buy Logic Studio just before Apple slashed the price, you would have gone postal. the humanity!kent_sandvik wrote:Questionable comment. Anyway, you get a lot for $190 indeed. Apple mostly uses it's software as loss leaders, their money is in the hardware and content ecosystem.

So then, by that logic, I should buy/use Logic! Since I already bought an overpriced PC in the form of a Mac I should take advantage of the spoils of being a Mac owner -- why do I have to buy overpriced hardware and overpriced software!
Maybe Ableton should have another price tier -- half price for all Mac users
Macbook Pro (2.5 Dual, 4gb) / 30" Cinema Display (I don't give a fuck about no multi-monitor support)

When Apple first took over Logic it was a $1000 app.
Garageband is still pretty expensive since you have to buy the hardware to use it.
