Ableton and Maschine

Post by swizzaudio » Wed Oct 31, 2012 5:30 pm

Hi Together

As I'm new to ableton I have a question about workaround with Maschine.

I would like start a beat in Maschine standalone and afterwards I would like to add Ableton instruments or work with the ableton clips and midi effects for beat structure.

I really want to start in standalone mode and afterwards I would like to work on beat structure with the clips and apc 40 for kind of remixing in ableton.

I know the drag and drop possibility but then I'm not able to work with the midi effects or am I wrong? If yes how can I just remix the stuff I did in Maschine with the clip mode and midi effects in Live?

Is there a easy worklflow for that

Thank you very much for any helps and ideas

Regards

Hi b3

Thank you very much for this tip. I already know this trick but I actually looking to get a Maschine standalone project as easy as possible into Ableton to work with live instrument, midi effects and the live clips together with the apc for sound structure and remixing

Best regards

I'm a bit lost, and if you could clarify the question maybe I can help out.

Exactly what part of opening a saved machine project in maschine instantiated in Ableton as a plugin are you having trouble with?

You can choose to drag and drop from Maschine as a MIDI clip instead of audio.

Hi b3

As I m really into sample based producing I do about 80% of the beat with Maschine.

Once all sampling is done I want to work with live to add instruments and play around with clips and midi effects from live.

So is there a way to have each group in Maschine as a clip in live to work with?

When I drag and drop the groups I have only audio. I know the possibility to drag and drop midi but then I have the Midi notes without sound....

You'd want to load Maschine as a plugin inside Live when you're ready to drag and drop midi clips from Maschine into Live.

Thank you for this tip but I'm still unable to play around in the clip view with a Maschine Kit, Live Midi effects and the apc 40 controller.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it would be great if somebody has a tip for me

You can trigger scenes in Maschine with midi note or program change messages from live. Open the Maschine project in live then add a midi clip for every scene in the Maschine project you would like to trigger. Select the program change message the clip sends, for example program change 1 triggers scene 1 in Mashine. In Maschne click the down arrow to the right of the project name and select "Scene Midi Settings". Select "Enable" and " Midi Program Change ". You can now use the midi clips you created in live to trigger the scenes you created in Maschine. Create an audio track in Live for every Maschine group you would like to apply effects to then route the audio from the Maschine group the audio track. Hope that helps.
