^ 12 Monkeys is awesome.

@ oblique s. - that's a hell of a list! The Iron Giant jumped out at me. that is a really good movie. i'm surprised that it got mentioned.

that moive and Wall-E don't even pop in my head when i think about the OP, but both were really good ones to whip out for the thread.

Game devs have been promising just that kind of experience for 10 years.

They're still all SHIT in terms of plot, acting, immersion experience.

I mean the fucking dialogue in all these games....omfg.

And I can’t stand cut scenes in games. It’s like the camera focusing on the guys face in porn. KILLS IT. And cut scenes often show far better graphics than the game you are playing. WTF? :x

The most unique storyline driven game implementation I’ve seen recently was Bastion on the iPad (although I think it’s a port). It has Sin City type narration that takes place as you do something. You pick up a gun and start shooting and the narration says “The kid picked up a gun and started blowing everything to Hell”. Very cool.

Tarekith had Contact as no. 1, NICE. I find that movie to be the perfect analogy for the psychedelic experience. My friend wrote the screenplay to that movie, super cool cat.

oblique strategies knows his sci fi.
Not much left to add really. I did watch Android the other night for the first time, hardly in the "Tops," worth watching though.

I have to say, as much as I like Wall E, after he looses his memory chip yet comes back to life, COME ON  Pixars finest moment has to be "the Incredibles." Very much Brad Bird takes over Pixar for 1 movie.

Anyone ever watch "Galaxy of Terror." Not a chart topper but a must see. It's like Ice Pirates without 'trying' to be funny.

That's probably my all time favorite movie, and I really don't know why. Just has some cool themes I find interesting I guess.

Cool that your friend wrote it too!

Tetsuo the Iron Man is another really strange one.
Havent seen it in years, but back when I watched VHS tapes Tetsuo had a short film before it called "Drum Struck," i think.
That short film was way cool.
It was about some guy who auditions to be a surf drummer and they end up hooking his ears up via jumper cables to some kind of battery.

Dont forget about Buckaroo Bonzai.
or Repo Man.

I never really considered Repo Man as really a total sci fi movie, but since Clockwork Orange is, I guess it does have it's place.

Not only a ground breaking scifi flick (12 Monkeys based on this, btw), but a revered film by Cineastes around the world.

The Thing (1982) should still be on Netflix... i watched it Monday. but yeah, it is kinda lame that so many of these titles are hard to find. if you have an Xbox or Roku try Crackle. they have a lot of old sci-fi stuff... and the price, ($0.00) is even cheaper than netflix!
