Bypassing "Plug-ins disabled" using ReWire

I was on my friend's computer the other day running Pro Tools 10 HD with Live 8.2.1, and somehow when I opened Live as ReWire, I didn't get the "Plug-ins disabled" prompt when I went to the plug folder, and I was able to add Kontakt to a channel within Ableton with no issue whatsoever. I'm unable to do that on my own rig, so can someone please tell me how/why this was the case? I didn't have enough time to experiment with his rig since he stays fairly busy. I'd really appreciate this feature since I hate having to wait to bounce down everything inside Ableton just to record them again into Pro Tools. Thanks!
