I'm now a professional. I did a rough run with my Arturia spark with automation then put it through the mastering. Oh shit sounds so good. 200 dollars less richer.

Bought the producer version. I can finally get rid off my Pro Tools.

I jumped ship and bought Studio One 2 Producer. Honestly - if the update to suite + 9 had stayed 180, I wouldnt have. But €100 for a fully functional DAW is just too hard to pass up. I mean - 9 looks nice, but thinking its not worth 120 for an upgrade - there really isnt a standout editing feature for me.

I think prioritising Ableton for song creation and then moving it to Studio One for mixing is a work flow Id really enjoy. Who knows, I might buy 9 in a couple months if theres a feature that will improve the creation aspect.

now if only they'd just improve the damn clip colors in Studio One! I love the GUI overall, but with the very notable exception of the ugly, flat clips colors....large projects are truly hard to look at!

HUGE TIP
For anybody who has jumped, (are on mac) and also wants to use Live with Studio One - heres my current workflow -

In Live
File - Export - select "All Tracks". Live will export all the tracks with the project name as part of the file name.

But - you can batch edit files to remove the project name on mac, so when you drag and drop files into Studio One, not only do the files have nice names "Hihat 1", "Toms" etc, itll name the brand new tracks after the file name. Extremely handy when you have 60+ files to bring over.

Follow this guide
http://maketecheasier.com/2-ways-to-bat ... 2009/05/16

Select "Replace Text", enter in the project name (and the space after it), leave "Replace With" blank.

Presto, all your files have nice new filenames with the track names from your original project!

I route Live into Studio One with JackOSX and it is rock stabel! This way i can use everything in Live even better than with Rewire! S1 really kicks ass! 8)

Ill have to try it. Last time I tried jack was with mainstage logic pro (ugh - of the reasons I sold logic and mainstage).

If people dont want to use jack, and would like to use rewire, (its all give and take depending on what you want), just wait for the free Studio One 2.5 update where you can record rewire Buss channels.

Yes, Studio One has very good ideas about productive workflows. That would be my main DAW but I'm very much vested in Logic up to my fingertips nowadays.

I have barely started messing around with it but I did notice something that I don't think Live does, or does the same way. That is adjusting volume in an event section of an audio track. I thought that was very cool. Have highlighted event section, or have volume adjustment set and drag it up/down in the event area and there you go. I think it would be similar in live in regards to volume envelop on the track in arrangement to do this and just use the draw button to do it per section/segment? I think S1 seems to do it slicker...

You can do that with Clip Volumes in Live, but yeah you have to have the clip view open to adjust it, you can't do it directly on the clip.

Studio One is great, but there's one thing about it that really gets on my nerves. Kind of like scratching nails on a chalkboard.

In Studio One, a Pre-Fader Send is muted when Mute is engaged on the mixer channel, which means it's not really a "Pre-Fader" send.

This makes side-chaining a real pain in the ass. Especially when you want to mute the channel driving the side chain, or when you want to solo the channel being side chained. The soloing workaround is to use the Safe Solo feature.

Someone on the Presonus forum posted detailed images of Studio One's audio routing, and you can see it there plain as day. A big red "M" after the channel inserts.

http://forums.presonus.com/posts/list/25568.page

Personally, I don't get it, but someone at Presonus must like having it there.

still doesn't have an external instrument facility though... the only way is to direct monitor it and record with system latency which really sucks because i love it's workflow i'll stay with cubase for the time being ..
