Grouping all kinds of Plugins

Post by geistfrei » Mon Jul 18, 2005 3:35 pm

Hi,

just playing around with Live5s new features and love it allready :).

But one thing that by first sight is kinda inconsistent, is that it is not
possible to group any other than Live5s internal effect/instruments.

It would be very great, if I would also be able to built up my own collection
of vst effect/Instrument chains I use on regular base.

cheers,
geist

you actually *can* do this right now - just drag a dummy audio clip from the track in question onto the browser and drop it. Dragging the file back into an empty space in the project will create a new track, complete with all the plugins and settings.

yeah,

thanks for that tip. nice one machinate :)

Although it would be nice to have them sorted in the "audio effects group"
section, this works perfectly.

thanks,
geist

EDIT:

Just rechecked. Well, the problem with this workaround is, that i am not
able to put that effectchains in existing tracks, its just useful to create new
track with predefined settings. This is by far not the same as the "audio
effect grouping" feature... So my feature wish persists.

Just load the track...then select the efx chain on the created track and drag it to the desired pre-exisiting track...then delete the created track track.

Hi jibble and Machinate,

this are all cool tips, but to me they are still some kind of workarounds.
Of course it is just a "comfort feature", but it would

1st: be consistent, since it is allready possible to group the live internal
plugs and

2nd: its just another step to faster producing. On big projects it can be
quite annyoing to insert this dummy track and then move the whole
pluginchain to another track.

I can imagine that the abletons allready thought about this, but it must
be more difficult to handle all those freaky vstplugs out there. Well,
anyways i hope this is not too hard to implement.

thanks for listening :)
