now that you have Cubase 6.5, are you going to upgrade to 7 immediately after the release?sdfak1234 wrote:I've been using Live for a long time, many years since the early versions... I'm a semi-pro musician and I bought an APC40 a few months back, been practising with it and love the POSSIBILITIES of it... but I just had to write for the first time about my absolute frustration at Ableton 7 and especially 8... I know I'm gonna get flamed, but I don't care... I did a big gig the other night and I had to stop mid set because Ableton crashed on me no less than 5 times.... and I know what people are gonna say, blame someone else, 3rd party plugins, bad system, user error, electricity, whatever... like I said I know my stuff, I'm a pretty decent developer myself and I KNOW it's ableton's fault. Legit copy, I even tested the cpu registers and the memory of my machine, stress tested and everything.
More and more bugs have crept in and even in the studio I've had literally hundreds of crashes over every possible thing. I stripped down my set, frozen everything, tested everything multiple times over, cut no corners whatsoever and it still crashed...
The worst thing was that I hyped up the APC and ableton to a bunch of big name artists backstage, and I basically looked like a fool, ableton looked like a joke... and now even though I desperately want to play out with my APC and Live 8, I just cant because it is nowhere near ready for prime time... and apparently no matter what I do I cant make it stable and I like I said I had to write this because it breaks my heart that I cant trust Ableton anymore.. I worry you guys are going the way of Steinberg.... if it's for live use it should be stable.
Live didn't used to be like this. If this isnt sorted out soon, I'm gonna ask for a refund and never use live again... you cant even enjoy using anymore... there is nothing that saps my creative energy more than a crash. No need for replies, I just had to say something, because I dont want other professionals being fooled into thinking this app is stable anymore.

Im afraid people are going to tear this apart because I think your expectations are unfortunately quite unrealistic, although I do agree the PDC fix should be retroactive because you are absolutely right that complete ADC was sold and they changed the manual. I think the evidence is quite clear. I think was highly misleading and maybe even deliberate. Back when I wrote my letter in 2009 I was aware of timing issues but I had no idea what was causing them.petit nuage wrote:imo, a free live 8.5 with full working pdc would be the best gift ableton could giving to us
good for their public image and to solidify links and trust with their customers community...
so EVERYBODY WILL BE HAPPY !!!
im quite sure people here are just like disappointed lovers...the same who tell theirs friends to try this soft and the same who promotes it in all circonstances ...like me !
but when i have learn about the pdc issue on this forum, i was like shocked somewhere, then disappointed and then angry .
because live 8 was sold like a professional daw with pdc ...or incomplete or broken pdc ?
can we name a daw, professional, if it dont include a full fundamental thing like that, as promise on the features list ?
so if live is just a great revolutionnary toy please ableton tell it or release a 8.5 version with full pdc for free.
since live 4, like lot of loyal users, i have invest money in this soft/compagny, for a professional product and this compagny is still here and in a good health i think/hope...
so with new competitors like bitwig etc..
in their interest , ableton SHOULD BE MORE GENEROUS with their customers or to expose their devellopemnt politic to us in order to know if its is interesting again for producers, to invest more money in this soft .
how many years and money i have to invest again to finally have a full working pdc as expected ?
so for me, im at the crossroad now and its the TIME OF THE CHOICE .
im waiting for the live 9 release and after i will choose.
i just hope i could invest my money in ableton again ...just as simple as that .
ableton please think a bout it ..and soon its christmas..so a good moment to communicate or to be generous .
give us that 8.5 version....after that release live 9 and all people will buy it, enjoying fully the new features, and celebrating and promoting it, without being paranoid and suspicious about pdc and timing .
so enter in the new generation /era of live please but dont ignores people who have bought live 8 thinking it already have a full pdc as mentionned on the features list (ADC) ... and finally makes live becomes THE BEST DAW IN THE WOORLLLDD
or not...
