sold my akg 701 for dt 770 pro because of build quality for mobile using, closed headphones and sound quality.
but the akg 701 are better imho for mixing music. the dt 770 are bass heavier but if your ears know it it shouldn´t be a problem.

Really pleased with the quality of the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO, 250 ohms.
Been using them for quite some time now as I watch everyone around me get
the latest Beats headphones.

The DT770s are probably exactly what you need for what you wanna do.

While the Beats are not suitable studio cans, and I wouldn't ever wear them in public, I am kinda pleased they exist. Anything that gets people to ditch those crappy iPod earbuds is at least a step in the right direction.

Headphones designed for use in pro studios with noise cancellation technology! That would really help cut out all that irritating background sound that plagues top recording environments. Even the commonly problematic jet engine!

if you're determined to buy another set of headphones... definitely try the Audio Technica M50...

if you're happy with them though, stick with the Beyer D 770s.

i have both and love both... but the Beyer D 770s are like slippers for your ears as mentioned. so, so comfy.

Although all the above is true, I'd suggest when you do a mix give it a test listen on beats. The reason being, a lot of your customers will be listening on beats so it's worth making sure the mix sounds OK on them. You can probably borrow a pair - as you say, everyone around you is getting them.....

Truer basically means open design and it is surely defined by AKG 701/2 and Sennheiser HD 650 ( unless you have spare cash for HD 800)

my only beef with them is that the vinyl gets a little hot if wear them for too long. usually by that time, i should give my ears a break anyway.
