RIP LIVE APART AND REBUILD

Post by chikabee » Wed Jul 20, 2005 9:12 am

Ok i was not really impressed with the idea of ableton coming out with live
mainly because i still felt there were allot of problem still existing in the
latest ver of Live4. However i was inclined to take a more in depth look
because another artist whose music i'am really feeling now... He uses Live
and his name is " edit " i really dig his style.

Besides that here are my thought i hope this post turn on fire and boil like crazy.
first off i think live 5 sound better sonically i dont know if my ears are playing tricks
on me but i noticed this immediately.

Some of the feature not even talking about the new effects which are an added bonus i think the over up hauled design of the interface really came up a few notches. I feel live is more effectively laid out operational wise and visually for
the eyes to!

An example would be the master fader output stereo buss meters. Which happens to turn red when ever an over peaks pass zero and it does it indicating one channel as well.

There are some new things that i saw that have been completely revamped or reworked whatever you wanna call it. Another example would be when you are working inside a midi clip! Just below the fold button you can click on the note ruler to select the entire lane of notes\ events with the pianoroll view as your focus.
Some very simple stuff that makes the program more intuitive with a flow.

One of the best things in live is being able to complete structure and organization over every piece and it's data. Working with clips is not revolutionary but! in Live5
it is kinda magical.

Overall i think this company stepped things up a notch because they knew they had to with competitors bite-ing off of there concepts. i Feel the quality of the interface
and the good visual feedback tops things off giving it some concrete usability.
i think live has a completely different feel and i cant put my finger on it.
but i think it is a good thing because certainly dont want to use my middle finger anymore.. (dont laugh) it's true...

In fact i been thinking when it is released i may not only upgrade but also snatch up
operator in the process.. you know what am saying? fudge it!

But i wanna debate more and rip this piece of software apart more.
i mean is it just me? or did abelton finally turn pro with the release
of this ver 5 Live? no ball yanking just being realistic for what its worth.
Live was always good but maybe it is much better now you know?
like with a gucci sweater now... Some serious thought went into this.
i know it because i dont just feel it my computer feels it to.
G4 pb 1ghz -512 i just hope ableton... they dont fall off a start slacking
specifically am talking about the code i said some good things but this
does not mean you guys should go and buy new hamsters and wind up on the 11oclock news. If this piece of soft becomes as concrete as reason
then they will have shit on lock without support for video and surround.

please respect both the ableton team who has spent hours and hours bug reparing,

stop acting flakey

Post by chikabee » Wed Jul 20, 2005 9:45 am

Man Stop bitchin... No piece of software on this earth is bug free. And i want to post here and FYI i also posted in the general as well... A further FYI would be the fact
that my post was not meant to come at no one in general. So dont be upset.
Just as you are a professional beta tester i'am a professional user.
and i been down with since way back... and am still down with live (ableton) for that matter. i clearly gave props to ableton and i will also state here that
all of you beta testers with the ableton team made the this piece of software
more on point and with the current feel of B18 it seems more concrete than
live ever was.. So i was only saying dont get to comfortable aiiiiight?
keep up the good work. And dont be so defensive dudette.

Yeah, as incoherent as the original post was in general, I have to admit the Gucci line really threw me for a loop.
