would you also just say fuck, steve vai, step away from the guitar. seriously?
Uh, if he was developing tendonitis or carpal tunnel syndrome through repetitive stress injury from playing then yes, you would tell him to step away from playing, at least temporarily until he had some physical therapy/surgery/changed his technique.

I am 8 months into a very bad case of OOS Occupation Overuse Syndrome, formally known as RSI. Bottom line I was keeping myself fit for playing/teaching guitar and computer use with my sporting pastime, martial arts. Essentially, the activities this involved kept the muscles in my arms specifically stretched and strong, among other things. I dropped the fighting early 2011 and it basically took 10 months for the problems to occur. The specialist says its totally curable but I have had to do a tonne of things to change my habits and relieve pain. I am making progress by slowly adding new activities ( that would seem contradictory) to my schedule as a balance. I have not yet got back into a sporting pursuit for a couple of reasons, but that is the next step.

I agree, it was a stupid comment.

It is really amazing how much Passion can drive a man to be great despite the disabilities he had. I am sure these people have gone through a lot and double the practice normal people do. Disability is nothing for a man with a dream
