Roland VR-700 Midi Controller problems

I posted this over on the Roland boards:

I started integrating the VR-700 into my setup, I'm using it with Ableton 8 live lite.

There appears to be some issues with midi controllers.

I specifically want to change the "Rotor Speed" controller 80, for channel 1, the organ sound.

I can change the volume (controller #7) but that is it, (except this is really weird, if it change controller #10 Pan, the "Rotary Sound Gain" changes, provided the knob is already set to max)so... I know Ableton is sending out something and the VR-700 is responding.

I also checked the "MIDI General Controllers Switch" setting to make sure it was "On" because the "VR-700 MIDI Implementation.pdf" indicates for this particular controller it needs to be set to the "On" setting.

Does anyone have any insight to what may be going on here?

With the VR-700 the factory preset for controllers is channel 16. If you change it to 1 (the Organ) Midi channel, than controller 7 volume no longer works.
