Setup Akai MPK Mini

Post by nikkees » Sun Jan 20, 2013 1:01 pm

Hello at all,

i'm from germany, sorry for my "bad" english.
I have Ableton Live 8 and i'm using the Akai MPK Mini, i searched for
a soulution for a few days.
First, my knobs are not shown as input un the right upper corner, pads and piano keys
are shown as input.
So, i programmed the pads in the Akai MPK Mini Editor, they work in the Drumrack.
But i can use those only one time in a live set.

I noticed that i can change the UserConfig file, but first i wanna know what i have
to change in there...
Hope you could help me...

Sorry, i know this question is often asked..

Hi,

Take a look on this post: http://mothergarage.blogspot.com.br/201 ... -live.html

The best setup I`ve found for the MPK Mini. It automaps almost everything to the selected instrument. The only thing that you need to customize is when using Impulse. After adding if, put a +24 semitones MIDI effect before it so the pads get mapped correctly.

Best regards,
Carlos

So after a complete new install it works fine. The knobs are working.
But i got still the prob, when i Record something with the drumrack (and the pads)
and i will use them after that again, they dont work :(

This is weird. You mean that it's working perfectly with a drum rack, than you record something to a slot for example, then when you stop it no longer works?

Have you checked if the track is record enabled? Either you record enable and set monitor to "Auto" or monitor it with the "In" setting. The pads send notes to Ableton, having it this way it should work. Make sure the MPK does not have the "CC" or "PC" buttons active.
