Nonsense. Maschine can give you an entirely mouseless hands-on workflow that feels more like using a hardware instrument. You'll never get that kind of experience from Live, even with Push.milfhuntr wrote:Ableton is like Maschine + a million capabilities. I don't think you even need to mess with a Maschine any more.
Best NI Maschine Template To Use With Live

Re: Best NI Maschine Template To Use With Live
To holding a button and pressing a pad, which mode are the pads in? Clips? Scenes? Pad mode? I'm not sure but it might make a difference. I know I didn't have trouble with it.

I try to mute track 1 for example , so I press the mute boutton + PAD 1 , nothing happens...
If it works for you, Could you tell me what's on your template for this "mute " boutton
Thank you
Re: Best NI Maschine Template To Use With Live
I'm not at my computer right now. But try clip mode. Hold your mute and, ideally when you hold the button, the pad illumination changes for muting.

Hi, thank you for your help but unfortunatelly , it doesn't work..yur2die4 wrote:I'm not at my computer right now. But try clip mode. Hold your mute and, ideally when you hold the button, the pad illumination changes for muting.
It seems that holding these button (solo, mute, select etc...) do nothing...
Other ideas?

I suggest just resetting everything, resaving controller editor.rezajazzmix wrote:Hi, thank you for your help but unfortunatelly , it doesn't work..yur2die4 wrote:I'm not at my computer right now. On Mac it's here :
Applications>Native Instruments> Controller Editor>Template Support Files>Ableton Live 8 (well duh!)>Maschine_MK2
And yes, it works perfectly with any MK1 Kontroller. It has a 4 x 4 red box, device controls+ navigation and on/off, mixer controls etc.
On Mac, copy the folder mentioned above and place it in Live's remote script folder by right-clicking the Live application, select 'show package contents' >contents>app resources>midi remote scripts.
Enjoy!
Have tried this with Live 8 and it seems to have limited functionality. When I go to use the 4th mode, which is engaged when you push the navigation button, nothing happens and the navigation button NEVER lights up when using the template. There's a demo video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnP1RM78 ... ata_player) and the dood is easily able to enter the mode I want to use but he is using an MKII controller. He discusses the mode I want to use at about 8 mins in.
Maschine in midi-control mode = still unreliable
Re: Best NI Maschine Template To Use With Live
No, that has nothing to do with the midi-control mode issue which has been fixed. Just reset and resave the template in the controller editor like mentioned above.continuous wrote:33tetragammon wrote:I'm not sure if any of you are aware that there is a very nice NEW Ableton Live script + template in the latest 'Controller Editor' update.

Are you sure it's not the duplicate button or something?
You hold the button and then press the D/H buttons I think.
...I went through a few incarnations of that script so my memory might be off haha

Out of interest, what do you think you cannot do with Push that you CAN do with the maschine template in Live?humnumb wrote:Nonsense. Re: Best NI Maschine Template To Use With Live
Hi,
I've just seen that they Native put an update of the control editor on the 24th of January !
So I've downloaded it and it works well better for me now...
the "select", "solo", "duplicate" and "mute" button are working BUT i'm exactly at the same point than Humnumb, my "NAVIGATE" button doesn't light up so I can't do what I want on my devices like in the video (around 10 minutes...)
Hope we'll figure it out...
Thank you

Yep, Navigate doesn't work. If you look at the assignments in the controller editor you can see that there is no assignment for the Navigate button and it therefore does nothing. If you change the controller that is assigned (in controller editor) from an MKI to an MKII than the template changes and the Navigate button has an assignment.
Like I said, I think some of the functionality of the template only works with an MKII controller.

Re: Best NI Maschine Template To Use With Live
Ok, I get a good news about the NAVIGATE button not lighted up!
You go to your control editor software (in your applications folder)
then you click to the NAVIGATE button and the assign fonction
So far, it's assigned to NOTHING so do this :
Type : control change
Channel 1
Number 115
mode trigger
value 127
action on DOWN
Led on MIDI IN
So, you'll see, now , your NAVIGATE BUTTON on Maschine light up and the fonction on the video is working !
ONLY 1 QUESTION left ....
This template is for MK2, and we have MK1, so no CENTRAL button as the MK2...
So, anybody as the tool to transform one of the knobs of MK1 to a CENTRAL button like MK2?

Re: Best NI Maschine Template To Use With Live
Dude was trying to compare Live with Maschine which is what I responded to. Live + Push will be no match for Maschine when it comes to a mouseless hands-on workflow. Push doesn't even compare to Maschine in that department at all because you can't even slice from the Push controller, you can't see waveforms or slices on the Push's LCD, you can't duplicate pads from the Push controller...etc. Not to mention that Push also doesn't even automap to plugins and can't do step automation (Elektron-style step parameter locks), and would still force you to click around with a mouse for a lot of little things like opening/closing plugin windows.panten wrote:Out of interest, what do you think you cannot do with Push that you CAN do with the maschine template in Live?humnumb wrote:Nonsense. Re: Best NI Maschine Template To Use With Live
All of that is true. But Push will still be a force to be reconned with.
Scales, clip launch, and the native built in plugs are a little more fun.
Not to mention potential for M4L action.
I'm sure there is plenty that I'm missing. They are each their own tools, that's for sure. But I have a feeling that Ableton+Push will be quicker and very effective. Especially WITH mouse and keyboard.
..I shouldn't really talk about something that's not out year in a thread that isn't initially meant for it
