Momentary control with Querty keys? (IAC/midi yoke or???)

Post by NorvernMonkey » Tue Jan 29, 2013 10:08 am

Hi guys, i've been trawling the old threads and tried a few things but to no avail, most of the posts i read were rather old, so i was wondering if there has since been a definitive method devised, or one that just works!
i have several channel sends assigned to numerical keys on my keyboard, at the moment they work like so.. press = send full, second press = send all way down. what i want is to use them as momentary buttons, as in press = send up, let go = send down
i have the IAC driver working and have tried several ways but nothing is working as described so far
any help appreciated
thanks :)

Set up two tracks.
First track: Input Keyboard , output to IAC/midiyoke
Second track: Input Keyboard, output to IAC/midiyoke

add a Notelength-plugin to one of the tracks and set it to noteoff, 51%

in the midisettings
activate track on for IAC/midiyoke output
activate remote on for IAC/midiyoke input

when you push a key on your keyboard now there should be a midisignal coming in when you press it and one when you release it. This should lead to the wanted momentary behaviour for simple on/off operations.

Cheers

Hi, thanks man, actually your method was one that didnt work for me. its possible i missed something, so i'll give it another try when im at the studio. one problem i seem to remember having was that actually its numerical keys i want to assign, therefore using the keyboard icon and using only the letters doesnt work for me

It works. Tested it with the normal keyboard while writing my first reply. Dunno if the numberpad behaves differently, maybe activate the numberpad first?
Check your midiconfig and try again.
