It is absolutely baffling to me why Ableton won't give any firm indication of when Live 9 and Push will be available. This is one of the worst product launches that I have ever seen. Nice looking products, but get your sh** together and give us some indication of when they'll actually be available. They're beginning to seem like vaporware at this point.

I was in Guitar Center Friday 2/8 asking to pick up Live Suite 8 with the upgrade to 9, they were out of stock in the story so the guy looked it up to see how long it would take for them to ship one in.

He then told me that they can't get in more 8s in, only 9s or 9 upgrades "since its out on Monday."

This is gossip... but its what the store rep said, and since all we have is speculation anyway, I thought I'd share.

No way! Haha there'd HAVE to be something up on their site if it's releasing tomorrow. He's probably just referring to the whole estimated date of Feb 11 thang.

I agree it seems pretty implausible, however the fact that they cannot get anymore 8s from their distro seems like an encouraging sign.

Time to queue up all those old Hollies, Hermits & Wayne Fontana records. It's the Graham Gouldman Thing.

absolutely baffling? do you understand how beta testing works? they can't put a firm date, because guessing when a Beta will be done makes no sense. obviously the whole point is to solve issues they couldn't have predicted, and such things don't happen on a nice and tidy timeline. They've said "first quarter" 2013 all along, and by my calendar, they haven't missed it yet.

and when something launches before beta testing is properly completed and is sold with a lot of bugs, well, then you get the Live 8 fiaso, which none of us need to live through again.

and as I beta tester for months I can assure you it is not vaporware.

I understand how beta testing works quite well...but rarely do I see companies do a huge splashy launch event touting all of the wonderful new features their product has and then tout the crap out of their product elsewhere when it is only in the beta testing phase. I get that they're still in the 1Q release window they set, but my point is that it's poor customer service to handle things the way they have handled them. They screwed up the pricing and started promoting a product months before they're even able to give a firm release date. I'll believe it when I see it.

Redcell, what is the problem? You will believe what when you see it? I know I would rather get a product that was more polished & bug-free a bit later in a projected time-frame than one that wasn't simply because I was impatient.
I don't think Ableton are the only company guilty of these kind of 'anticipatory phases' - Bitwig has had one of the longest anticipatory phases I know of... there's also the 'Leap’ motion hardware I put my name down for almost 10 months ago that hasn't come to my doorstep just yet. Apple have a perpetual 'anticipatory phase' for most of their stuff.
:D

“... it was just to make an average listener go: ‘What the fuck is this?’ That’s a real inspiration for me and something that I will explore more on upcoming recordings.”

I see you shiver with antici... pation!

So I'll remove the cause, but not the symptom.
