The Transition from Ableton Live 9 Beta to the REAL version?
So I got Ableton Live 9 Beta. I was pretty suprised about how stable it was actually more stable than Live 8. So since I'm an idiot, without thinking I started producing tracks I'm getting paid for with release dates in Beta 9 (thinking hey, I'll buy 9 when it comes out but until then this is pretty good). Well then this weekend I got a message saying this version of 9 beta has expired and I had to download the newer version (I didn't think these Beta's would "expire" and render the program unusable). Now I'm freaking out a little bit because I'm wondering if there is going to be some kind of shut down of 9 beta before the real version is released? Or will it be a seamless transition? Cause I can't open these session in 8

Normally the release candidate expires about a month after the actual release. That's what happened in ye distant past when L8 came out.

I'm wondering the same thing, had assumed it would be the same as with previous beta versions as Angstrom has just mentioned, but my beta died at the weekend. I don't have any stuff as critical as this with deadlines looming, but there are a couple of nice ideas I started in the 9 beta I'd like to be able to access for use in our live shows. I imagine we're probably going to have to wait for the release now as there doesn't appear to be any option I can see in my user area to download another version : (

Beta's expired because you are not using the last beta version.

Ah OK, where do I get the new version then? I take it this is on the Beta forum, but the instructions for joining this forum I got in the email when I joined didn't work, so have not been seeing posts in there at all.

Your account, on the main ableton site.

Thanks Angstrom, it was the new look for the account area that had me then.. it had defaulted to the 'add new license' page and the only other option in the drop down was labelled Suite 8 upgrade, but all my licenses are listed under there. Back in action

I'm also wondering if i should work with the live 9 beta or not. I'm preparing a live set for a gig on mid-march and i'd like to use live 9's new features (especially the "add to session mode" function and some m4l goodness) to build my set. It seems it could speed up my workflow. What do you think ? Is it safe ?

I heard from a reliable source that if more than three days passes between the expiration of the last beta and installation of regular Live 9, dozens of 'Postbeta Gremlins' come out of your computer at night and rape your pets.
