The software isn't being released until March 5th. If there is a demo on day one then I can download it and try to evaluate it within a week. If I can't drop what I am doing then tough luck I guess.

Seems as though that discount is for those who wish to beta test the software.

^ that argument is a little weak. the general idea/complaint here is that "there needs to be a discount for loyal/returning customers". so downloading a demo is not exactly going to help you decide if Live is right for you... a "loyal customer" would already have the general idea about that. it would let you try the new features, but since the big complaint/stance from those who are generally pissed about the pricing goes something like this:

Live 9 doesn't have anything new anyway, so i'm not buying it. neener neener.

then why bother with any of this?... upgrade path, pricing, beta, demo... it's all irrelevant.

UncleAge... i expect this stuff from others, but you've been around. download the [actual] beta brother!

 I did. Last night.

I still think my argument has merit though, even if it doesn't belong in this thread

if Ableton added a measly 7% to make it 33% half these gripes would evaporate... but 7% x [over]1,000,000[userbase] = a fair bit of loot.

:P - okay. i concede. i think i've stirred the pot enough for one day.

i'm fairly certain that nothing i say is going to change anyone's disgruntled mind. i just like to add a pinch of reality to mix in with all the entitlement that pops up in these moanfest threads.

enjoy the beta!!

That's one of Bitwig's biggest advantages: it's being released on pay day!

Hello,

I have Ableton Live 8 Suite + M4L and my price is 169€ (apparently after 12/03 will be 249€)

What is the price for Ableton Live 8 Suite ONLY Owners?

How much my M4L is worth?

Interesting question.

What i dont like is that i have to buy it so quick to get it for 169€.
As a loyal User with their max Product i think i should have a longer periode.

But that is just my way to see it....

And....

I would like to update to live 9 suite and later get Push for a discount,
But as I see it then I will pay more.

Don't misunderstand me, I have a sale job in real life and think
It is ok to motivate people to buy something quickly,
But as a user of the top product I want a bit more of time to think and test
The product before I buy.
And with push I will have time problems with this short periode.

At the moment I think to leave 9 and push complete and wait what users report,
And when the next sale comes I will decide again.
That's only cause the time periode is so extremely short, otherwise I would buy it soon....

No, that's what you were thaught to think that capitalism and economics is. But there is no capitalism without customers, there is no economics either. Customers underestimate their value. Of course, customers shouldn't overestimate their value either (you know, when people demand free stuff), there's no economics without companies either. It's not because you're small, you don't matter. You're as insignificant as you consider yourself to be. Plenty of examples where people proved otherwise.

Mine is £164, I assume this includes my additional discount for beta testing/being awesome.

i believe that. truly i do.

i also believe that if the company is selling something i want... they have a standard price, that for the most part, i'd be willing to pay.... and then they offer a lower price... i am getting a deal. i can wish the deal was better, but griping about it won't make it so.

it's true that what Ableton have done with pricing is a bit inelegant, albeit somewhat accidental (see pricing oops)... but shit, look at that hideous website! compared to that nothing could be a more in your face and deliberately belligerent mistake on their part!

Agreed, although I'm not only griping about the deal itself, but rather the whole thing. The differences are illogical, the approach even more and they do the same shit all other companies do, reward the new customer, ignore the existing ones. They had 3 years to come up with this? I know griping about it won't change anything now, but not griping about it (and voicing it) will definitely not change anything for the future either.

And I totally agree about the website :D I have yet to find the Forum-link on the frontpage. You know what's even worse than putting up that hideous website? Still having it up unaltered after almost 5 months (and many complaints) :) It does however agree with their entire approach for this launch... "We were going to do it this way and no matter what people say, we will not change course!" :)
