I think the link is broken.

What are those symbols? I know they're the Apple glyphs for Alt/Shift/Ctrl/etc. but I never remember which is which

Also, can you use words or captions next time? The screenshots are ambiguous

Its ironic you have chosen to explain this tutorial by going the long way round.

I could maybe see a use for it for some people but i tend not to need a full screen midi editor. I use half the screen & never adjust it & just then use shift + tab to get rid of it. All the view shortcuts are assigned to my 7 extra mouse buttons & this works very well for me.

I want to use the mouse more! I wish you could call up a dialogue box that would allow you to add menu items to the right-click menu. Great for useful newly learned things like paste time. Also, I wish the mouse wheel would scroll every scrollable area without having to click first.

Thought i'd check out your article about "ditching the mouse" and it appears that apart from using shortcuts to assist (which most users should be doing anyway) you suggest other (in my opinion) inferior ways to "control the mouse" such as mouse keys etc. Who would honestly use mouse keys over a mouse?

What about the suggestion of a trackball? These are proven to help fatigue and offer the same precise control of a mouse (because they are a mouse) and after almost 20 years of using a mouse and 2 years of using a trackball I can certainly say that (for me) a trackball is much better for heavy work for days on end (no longer get even slight cramps).

I was expecting some neat tricks to using live without a mouse but I have way more setup with custom editing controllers and Bome. Nice to offer an opinion but it appears as a personal opinion, not something that could offer guidance.

Perhaps that's an elaboration of the above comment "dumb"... I like to be a little more constructive.

:D

Seriously Funken, fuck you for not letting us know this whole thread is an add for your site. :x
I know you're trying to be helpful, but if something's a paid product, and the main thing you're promoting is a teaser, tell people up front!

From his site:
It will be produced as a separate article very soon, when Live 9 is released. It will include detailed instructions, a discount on the inexpensive software required, and a short demo video. To give you an idea, there will be a shortcut to expand a midi clip to the maximum height, ie right to the top of the screen, and a variation to close it again! This makes midi editing about a zillion times easier and faster. So, bookmark this page and stay tuned!

Give him a break. He did post a nice shortcut. You can follow his article if you want, but the .gif is a nice touch.

Cheers funken.

Also, about using mouse : I now use a large Magic Trackpad. And it's really cool, with the least OSX.
