Sike, those guys are awesome! Have fun!! Their drummer is bad ass!
Did you hear "the kids" were all bitter that they are headlining cochella. Youngsters were like, " who the hell are they?"

thanks

that's just weird... a lot of them probably weren't even born

but then to balance it out, I bought the ticket drunk on new years eve, then today I was actually thinking proper old man thoughts like "it's raining, there will be a big crowd, the toilets will be disgusting, I'll be standing the whole time and my feet will hurt and it will be raining"

But then I put on their best of and I'm well up for it now.

plus the crowd will be made up of fellow old people anyway

 i totally know how you feel!! i went to see QUICKSAND in january. at first i wanted to sit in the balcony, then i decided F-this, it's the first (and most likely the last) time i will ever see them. so i coat checked my record and went straight to the front. there wasn't any crazy moshing or anything like that, but i rocked harder than i had in 10 years. the next day, my neck was all hurting, my arm was bruised. i had to do an advil regiment for a couple of days. getting old suuucks.

exactly my reasoning and why when empowered by whiskey on NYE I just bought the ticket... there's all kinds of reasons I would have talked myself out of it sober, all of them financial, but when the fuck ever will I get the chance again

there's loads of those "damn, I could have seen them then, I wish I had..." moments

I remember when Ian Brown's solo album came out in about 2000 and him being referred to on X-Fm as "Brownie the Manc messiah"... no term has ever been more apt...

except of course the messiah is his sister

What I liked about the Stone Roses is everyone assumed that John Squire and Mani were the musical geniuses and Ian Brown was just a front man who was notorious flakey live.

But when they split up, Ian Brown went on to do some interesting and original stuff, a lot of it being really quite good. Whereas Squire formed the Seahorses, which was just low grade britpop bollocks, with self indulgent guitar work.

What I don't like about them is the way most of my guitarist friends still always play their stuff any chance they get. Ah! Just play something different for a change! I'm going to start hating them before long, and I don't want that.

top night.
not even a hint of an encore. the old buggers couldn't wait to leave.

fortunately, the crowd were exactly the same.

found a flyer for the Happy mondays on the way back which probably means I will have to do all this again. first time they''ve been to Oz. Hopefully Shaun Ryder is up to it. The flyer is on a kind of acid blotter paper thing that you can rip into small squares which i thought was a cool idea

they're even bringing bez

not sure I could justify missing that really.
