max 4 live won't upgrade to the newer version, if you go suite to reg. live.

That is what I was led to believe, but apparently we are wrong.

That's correct. If you have Live 8 and Max for Live, then upgrade to Live 9, you can use Max 6 with Live 9, no need to buy Suite.

No, it's pretty clear.

All instruments and m4l upgrade to the new version in 9, and that includes the new devices in m4l.

The only difference are the new libraries.

Basically you get now different licenses to all your products: m4l, collision, tension, analog, operator, cabinet, sampler.

it seems like all this products will "upgrade" regarthelss of a suite upgrade.

All of this is getting confusing  why would anyone go suite 8 to suite 9 then? So the only reason to go suite to suite.... Is pretty much just the library? Just 40 GB of content?

^^ I believe so.

Question 1. Does this mean I am still a full suite owner if I go for the standard upgrade?

Question 2. What 3 Effects am I missing out on ?

There may also be some more suite only stuff in the future like what they did for amp, so you would end up missing out on any of that as well, if it were to happen

it would mean that you'll be shit outta luck when Live 10 comes out and it's time to pay the piper.

I just wish they had of upgraded the instruments or something, seems kind of crazy as a suite/ max owner to pay a 100 bucks extra for 40 GB of content and a cheaper upgrade in the future.

they did. you get their orchestral instruments now. they used to cost around 600 bucks as a stand alone add on.

I have answered these in an earlier post, but basically:

1. No
2. None

It's all in writing. David said ages ago that Suite owners would keep their devices. I have confirmed Max for Live owners get the same max for Live whether they buy Suite 9 or Live 9, via about 3 emails, plus a thread on the beta forum which has had about 3 replies from Ableton today, including the bit pasted above.
No you are not a Suite owner, but the only things you are missing is 40GB of sounds. You keep all the stuff like Operator, Max for Live etc, and it is upgraded to the latest version.

You miss out on no effects or instruments, because you already have them.
Fair enough funken.

Something that does appear strange to me.

Atm, I am a suite owner. If I don't go for the L9 'suite' upgrade, how is it that they 'take away' ownership over something that I have already paid for ?

When did having the full Suite go from 'including all instruments', to 'having extra library content' ?

dammit Sibanger!

quit trying to find ways to get over on da man!

next you'll be complaining about how they've wronged you because new users get a damn near single digit percentage points in additional "savings", and expecting a voucher for Glue and 808, 909 and 303 emulations.
