Session Drums? (Live 9 Suite)

Post by schullermusik » Wed Mar 06, 2013 2:00 am

I noticed in my "Your Packs" section I have download buttons for Session Drums Club, Multimic and Studio, but I don't have one for Session Drums. Anyone care to shed some light on this?

I think as with the other ones that dont have download buttons that they are included in the Suite already.

For instance there isnt a download button for tension or sampler either

I was wondering the same thing. I purchased the Live 9 Suite and Session Drums is the only sound I can't download under Your Packs. I know all the instruments are included in the installer, so it makes sense that Tension and Sampler can't be downloaded. Besides, if you look at the size of Session Drums, it's listed at 28 GB! There's no way that was included in the 700 MB Live 9 installer.

I believe they only come on the DVDs.
So if you have Suite and buy the box (50EUR) you get those also).

Ableton say the downloads = boxed content.
What comes with the download version?
A Live 9 installer to download from Your Account.
A PDF manual included with your installer.
The same included sounds as the boxed version available for download from Your Packs.
I downloaded all the packs available to me yesterday, and they total 28.2GB. Where's the other 25.8GB?

The suite is now the same for both box and download.
At least thats what the sales information implies.
If not, id like my money back as the product description provided to me is incorrect :p

Maybe unzipping/installing makes the missing 25.8...

Someone asked about the size in another thread, it extracts into live as 55 gig, the downloaded files are compressed prior to installing. The session drums come in 3-4 packs and replace the old single pack, again they uncompress to be the biggest chunk of the new library. I'm not sure why they didn't delete the old pack heading, but don't feel anything in particular is missing with the new ones.

This. They packs are compressed, and are much larger after you install.

So you're saying all those other 2-4GB drum libraries are session drums in small chunks?

That's right. These smaller packs are named after the classifications within the old Session Drums single livepack. It confused me at first too, but now makes sense. I suppose they will offer the different 'types' of session drums as single packs now.

Thanks, Jen. It was a curiosity to me, as the header was there, but no download button.
