Sync with Reaktor running as vst...
Sync with Reaktor running as vst...
Hey guys. I's asked this question in the Reaktor forums but not had any response so thought I'd see if anyone here had an idea.
I'm pretty experienced with Ableton, but I'm a bit new to Reaktor, I tend to only use it for specific things so my knowledge isn't great.
I've stripped the Newscool macro so I have the midi going into Ableton which I want to record. I'm having problems with it syncing however, both for song position and keeping exact to the beat and bar. I just want to press space in Ableton and for the first midi note to record on the first beat of the first bar.
I've found two macros: Song Position v1.0 and Plugin Song Pos 1.4. I don't know how to integrate either of them well, if indeed I have the right modules. Can anyone help on this one?
Have any other Ableton peeps had trouble of this kind?
Many thanks.

Well, I just tried this out; I think newscool doesn't really do the 4/4 thing (at least with the presets I tried.) If I use Aerobix, Massive or other beat boxen, they are right in sync w/ Ableton. I think the VST is set up for external sync by default.
Oops, My bad. After playing with the Offset param in newscool, I can sync it to abes/.

Cheers for the replies guys!
@revoltcrew - It's not really stripped out, I've just seperated all the streams so they come out on individual channels so I can run 8 different channels / instruments from each Newscool 'drum'
@AustinThumper - It's not so much the time-signature, simply the sync to the beat and starting out immediately in time when play is pressed. Offset doesn;t seem to cut it for me either :/

Interesting. so you made newscool a multi-out instrument. It's not really stripped out, I've just seperated all the streams so they come out on individual channels so I can run 8 different channels / instruments from each Newscool 'drum'
are you also sending midi from these channels ?
care to share a tutorial or on how you "deconstructed/improved" newscool ?
or the ensemble variation you created ?
cheers

Re: Sync with Reaktor running as vst...
Hey dude, yes it is a multi-output instrument and I am sending only midi from these channels as I'm not so interested in the beat synth. Funny you should say, because I'm in the process of starting an 'alternative' music production blog which will include this setup. If you want a heads-up when it's finished (sync problems & Ableton 9 upgrade completed), drop me a PM.revoltcrew wrote:Interesting. so you made newscool a multi-out instrument. It's not really stripped out, I've just seperated all the streams so they come out on individual channels so I can run 8 different channels / instruments from each Newscool 'drum'

Be aware that Live doesn't receive multiple midi channels from vst, they are merged on the same channel (1).Tsuki wrote:...it is a multi-output instrument and I am sending only midi from these channels...

I;ve managed to work around that, it's only the sync that's got me a head scratchingbroc wrote:Be aware that Live doesn't receive multiple midi channels from vst, they are merged on the same channel (1).Tsuki wrote:...it is a multi-output instrument and I am sending only midi from these channels...
