Second waveform viewable in Sample Editor
In the sample-editor it would be really cool if there were an option to view the waveform of a second track above (or below) the one Im editing. This would allow to easily fit i.e. an untight guitar to a drumtrack (recorded without click). Since all warping done in the sample-editor is viewable instantly in the arrangement it is possible to put two tracks above each other and watch the clips in the arrangement while fiddeling with warp markers in the sample-editor, but its quite confusing and unprecise.

Re: Second waveform viewable in Sample Editor
I think we can safely say that feature suggestions are utterly pointless from this point on.

Re: Second waveform viewable in Sample Editor
Why? Ok, Live 9 is a major release but that doesn't mean they'll stop developing now. I'll possibly have to wait some time for the next release but I think it is much more possible that they will integrate something into live 10 requested now (before they start laying out plans) than short before release. I can be patient.

Re: Second waveform viewable in Sample Editor
because it seems that the most often suggested things were totally ignored or found their way into L9 with half ass solutions - such as curved automation - what a joke
Sampler time stretch, resizable drum racks, recording in lanes (takes).
more than 1 editor window
multi monitor support
ability to type automation values in directly

But what exactly do you want? As you say, we can put two tracks above each other and line them up. What is confusing and unprecise about it?

What's so bad about their implementation of curved automation? I never particularly needed it, but it's there now after many people asked for it, and it seems to work OK...ian_halsall wrote:because it seems that the most often suggested things were totally ignored or found their way into L9 with half ass solutions - such as curved automation - what a joke

Re: Second waveform viewable in Sample Editor
you know, responses like that just make take you not seriously at all.
People have been asking curve automation for a while. Not me. I have cloth ears. I seriously struggle to hear the subtle differences between a curved parameter line and a straight one, and if I want the rate of change to change, I generally just draw it in. I have been playing with the curve automation now and once you get the hang of it, it is easy to use. So what's the problem? What's rubbish about it? How could it have been done better? Can you explain?

Re: Second waveform viewable in Sample Editor
well if you don't know anything about the subject and don't care then why bother with this platitudinous garbage line of attack?
Having used the curve automation over the last 2 months or so I can tell you it's rubbish.
You think I care if you take me seriously?
ha

ian_halsall, I don't mean to sound inflammatory here but would you care to be a little more constructive with your feedback?
I don't see why it's so 'rubbish' either. Ok so they're not true Bézier curves, but they're certainly not useless. I do think they could do with a smooth function though.
What in particular bothers you?

If you have ever used Massive or Cubase you will see that you can just choose from a selection of standard curves that are musically useful.panten wrote:ian_halsall, I don't mean to sound inflammatory here but would you care to be a little more constructive with your feedback?

sine, exponential, triangle, square (amongst others)
you try drawing one of those using the new curve automation in Live 9
the curves that you can draw in Live 9 are always one shape and are not that musical for the type of music I make

OK. I guess it's me cloth ears then
The M4L LFO could give you some of those options though, even ifit is a bit of a workaround...
