Free Instrument for Live 9 Suite

Post by Winterpark » Sat Mar 09, 2013 11:49 am

Hi everyone, I recently bought this awesome little Toy Harmonium from a local flea-market

Image

I got a little inspired to sample it and put some of live 9 suite's awesome new Max for Live patches on it to create a generative type .als demo.

It's a pretty freaky instrument... where the whirring of the motor is almost as loud as the notes themselves, which very much adds to it's charm.

Anyway... it's free, no strings attached, no email address or facebook like needed. Download and use as you will.

Thank you very much for this one, am! This is a beautiful inspiring creation. I very much like the warmth and mechanical artifacts inside the source however you have done an incredible job turning this into quite an involved and useful rack. Great for noise beds or airy pads alike. Cheers!
PS. You're making some real nice music as well with Winterpark.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I may dig out a few more oddities and do some more Live 9 instrument racks over the next little while. It's quite fun to do, and to share. :)

Thanks for this, wonderful! As usual I was a bit vague and didn't notice you were from Melbourne until I read the Ableton front page downloads article today... classic that this was from Camberwell Market, when I saw it I thought "that looks like something you'd find at Camberwell Market" and then saw where you were from & saw on your facebook page that was where you got it from... I must visit Camberwell Market again, haven't been there in ages!
There seem to be quite a few cool and amazing Ableton users from Melbourne! (I don't include myself in that category, I'm just an Ableton user from Melbourne)
:D

“... it was just to make an average listener go: ‘What the fuck is this?’ That’s a real inspiration for me and something that I will explore more on upcoming recordings.”

Yeah, I hadn't been to Camberwell Market in ages either... maybe 2 years.... the guy selling it had a few other crazy noisy gadgets, a strange 90's faux-laptop toy which was really strange... probably good for circuit bending, but the harmonium and it's whirring motor really jumped out at me.

i'll be doing a performance also at this launch event, which utilises the generative Toy Harmonium piece I made as an ambient bed along with live guitar looping/processing, OP-1 playing and vocal sample triggering via a Livid Block.

check out the video of my rehearsal here.
