should i convert my Samplelib to one Hz/Bitrate?

Post by coffeencigs » Sun Mar 10, 2013 12:38 am

to be honest, i never really thought about it until just now.

im "rebuilding" my sample library at the moment and as expected i have a wild mix of samples in 44.1/48hz and 16/24bit.
i know that live will up- or downsample all (imported / edited) audio material according to my settings in the preferences.

now, from what i read so far...

it makes sense / is better to have all samples at the same sample/bitrate im using in live - before importing.

if thats true - is it? - should i convert all of my samples to one and the same hz/bit rate? and if so - what rate?

(i have enough hard disk space, a good computer and im not pressing cds, but uploading my music to the internet.)

what i dont want is a library full of "broken" samples with artefacts and quality loss and i dont know what, after converting...

any advice?

thank you very much.
