if you read around on the UAD1 forum you will notice that the crackling is not exclusive to one host... some people have the problem in Cubase, others in Cakewalk, some people never had a crackling problem etc.etc...cane creek wrote:Powercores and UAD-1's are very popular products , you would think ableton would own these products and carry out tests before releasing a product.

chikabee,
no offense here but what do you mean by "pushing the envelope"? exactly WHAT are you doing that is causing you problems?
i mean, obviously i make music with live with whatever tricks i need and know myself and i'm not going to hear you say "you haven't really used the program" since the nature of live makes it possible to do things many ways . but i would be interested in hearing which features and tricks make everything unstable for you?
like i said, i always thought live was one of the more stable sequencers out there. it has never crashed on my computers by itself and it has rarely crashed using vst/au plugins. i'm not saying it's stable for every person - i know it isn't and i know people having issues with dsp cards and lots of other bugs and problems in l5 already.
i'd just like to hear which specific things make it a bad piece of code for YOU since if all we're talking about is "well it just is", we aren't going to get much progress in anything except flaming and arguing and there's just too much of that in the net already.
so please if you care, voice your problems more like "the feature x doesn't work and the feature y crashes my computer" instead of "i'm an Important Professional (unlike you), use High End Gear and live isn't stable at all".

Re: Live never crash on you Huhh?
Bullshit. Sure version 5, which just came out, has some issues to be ironed out, many of them related to third-party plug-ins--these things take a bit of time. But to say that Live was never stable and is always crashing is just a load of crap--2.0.3 and 3.0.2 are rock solid, if they don't perform flawlessly on your system, then you need to give your system a once over, cause 99+% of users have no problems with these versions. Say what you want about how Live works on your system, but PLEASE, don't make totally erroneous comments slagging the stability of previous versions, cause you're just wrong, and you discredit anything else you're saying to people like me who have no problems with previous versions. I'm sure you'll reply about how "pro" you are, and how I must not really use Live the way big boys like you do, but spare me. If thousands of hours over almost 3 years in a variety of studio and live situations doesn't count as a lot of crash free Live use, then I guess I'm just not as "pro" as you.chikabee wrote: Now as far as stable and never crashing? Live was never stable and always
crashed somewhere
FIRST: it is not solid at all by it's self
and Second it is deffinently not solid
with outside plug's.
Now about this charade of some people saying
it it's stable and never crashing on me Maybe you
never really used the program...

Re: Live never crash on you Huhh?
I agree with you 100% ---- I've spent hundreds of hours on Live 5 Betas and final version, and it has only crashed on me when a) too many apps were running or b) when it was incompatible with plug-ins such as the Emagic tuner, which was repaired a couple of Betas later.quandry wrote:Bullshit. Re: It's all about how you use the program
I'd like to think english is your second language, but slang like nuddlette (whatever that means) makes me doubt that, and conclude you are still in your teens, which is great, and makes sense of your sophomoric comments. If this is wrong, my apologies, but you might want to take a bit more time on stringing real meaningful sentences together that actually make a point. Beyond that, zion15 makes some good points--instead of talking up how pro you are and how none of the rest of us really use Live in the intense way that you do, why don't you get specific as to you issues. In case you don't know, this means posting system specs, version of Live (and any problematic third-party plugs) you're using, and specifics of your problem. If you posted something along those lines, then you might actually get help, and maybe even get a little respect. As it is, talking down to the rest of us 'cause you're so "pro" isn't going to gain you much respect or help. I'd love to hear some of your super-pro tunes, why not post a link to your fancy website you surely have as the pro that you are. Someday I'll learn to use Live like you and be able to crash it and put it up against the ropes, til then I guess I'll have to settle for everything working just the way I want it.chikabee wrote:If you using live in a conventional sense and not really pushing the envelope.

its all good. Seriously, if you are having issues with Live and post to the bugs and problems forums with systems specs and specifics of your problem/issue, you will get help of some sort. If not from Ableton, at least from other users who have maybe been down a similar road as you, or have similar systems or plug-ins. Also, a new thread in the general forum talks about trashing your preferences to get Live 5 to perform properly--seems likes its been a huges boost for some that were having performance issues with 5. Maybe try that with 5, and if other previous versions are causing problems, it might no hurt to try resetting the prefs on those. sometimes its something as small and simple as a little prefs. document or a little windows setting that is causing Live to not function properly...good luck,
Ryan

yes but the UAD-1 plugs work perfect for me in live 4 , cubase sx 2 & 3 and even Acid pro 4 , so it looks like the problem is Live 5.olafmol wrote:if you read around on the UAD1 forum you will notice that the crackling is not exclusive to one host... some people have the problem in Cubase, others in Cakewalk, some people never had a crackling problem etc.etc...cane creek wrote:Powercores and UAD-1's are very popular products , you would think ableton would own these products and carry out tests before releasing a product.

ok fair enough..did you try and experiment with the plugin buffer-size setting already?cane creek wrote:yes but the UAD-1 plugs work perfect for me in live 4 , cubase sx 2 & 3 and even Acid pro 4 , so it looks like the problem is Live 5.olafmol wrote:if you read around on the UAD1 forum you will notice that the crackling is not exclusive to one host... some people have the problem in Cubase, others in Cakewalk, some people never had a crackling problem etc.etc...cane creek wrote:Powercores and UAD-1's are very popular products , you would think ableton would own these products and carry out tests before releasing a product.

cane creek, did you try the trash the preferences-trick btw? that seems to remove lots of anomalies for many people in live5, from unresponsive behaviour to crashing.
(that is, locate your live 5.0.1 preferences folder and delete it - there's several posts about this on these forums)
the reason i'm asking is because some UAD users seem to have reported they can use the plugins with live 5.0.1 just fine, possibly having problems with just some of the plugins or none of them.

Very interesting. I dont like it either, so seeing as your the dood, cant you do me a version without it :0Robert Henke wrote: I personally do not like the new clip nudge feature, not because it is complety wrong, but because it does not feel right to me in its current implementation. But seriously, I think that was very honest of you to say this.
Yeah, props to Mr. Henke for honesty. I've found the nudge function to be a good idea, but it doesn't feel quite right yet.DJRetard wrote:Very interesting.
