Hi, I love the new M4l convolution effect and last night I was trying it with some guitar cabinet impulses behind Poulins Lecto vst.
I'm getting great sounds with it but it doesn't match up with other cabinet plugins due to the different settings. I was wondering if anyone would know what settings the gain, decay etc would need to be at for straight up cabinet emulation. I know dry/wet needs to be at 100% but I'm not sure what some of the other settings should be set to. Can anyone set me straight on this or is it even possible to do?

Re: Using the convolution plugin as cabinet emulation
Keep in mind that it's not the cabinet that is making the reverberation. It's the cabinet in the room. Typical I would play a small amp in a small room.. so small decay/time. I haven't used the new M4L convolution but I typically wouldn't use a convolution reverb for this scenario. Have you tried using the amp simulator and a short room reverb with the standard ableton reverb?

Hi there, no I haven't tried that but I certainly will give it a shot.llebnodnar wrote:Have you tried using the amp simulator and a short room reverb with the standard ableton reverb?
The reason I was trying this was that i just thought it would be handy to just use one device for all my convolution needs, mainly reverb and cabinet emulation.
I know you don't think it's a good idea but shouldn't it be possible. Or is this two very different types or applications of convolution?

you need set the reverb to Mode: single, Decay 100% ,size 100% ,Predelay 0 . and the dots on right side must all set to grey. width 100%
