I can't find an explanation of what BeatLookUp does. Can you explain it ?

Re: List of MashUp effects
I have a modded version somewhere, I will try to post a download link to it later.
It's a bit easier to understand.
The BeatLookUp thread is crazy long, and there are 2 of them.
All the information is in there, however here it is my summary.
I think the 7.4 version works with key strokes, possibly midi in too, like note on/off, I forget.
Basically you have
Jump 1 and Jump 2. When Triggered they jump to a specified place in the buffered incoming audio. So if you set the Jump 1 to hit on the 1 it will repeat that note while triggered, for a specified length like 1/4 notes or 8th notes etc.
Jump 2, same thing.
I would set the Jumps to kicks and snares.
It has a gate (like tremelo) effect, also a stutter. Each of these has a rate.
There's a crazy bit crush effect thing
Pitch up and Pitch down
Scratch FX
I forget what else.
Another cool thing is each effect can be routed to 2 sends.
These Sends can be routed to individual tracks in Ableton.
So if the Jump 1 is set to Send A, every time you trigger Jump 1 it will also go to a send.
So maybe you have Jump 1 and Jump 2 set to the same spot, but one of them is going to a reverb, and the other is clean.
If you open BeatLookUp you can delete those Reaktor FX, as well as the Sampler thing.
Just feed it a signal and get to mashing.
There is this weird Buffer part that holds 3 buffers that you can use to loop stuff etc.
I never used it much and still dont understand it.
If you go through some of the BeatLookUp threads you can download earlier versions before the buffer trio thing was implemented. I forget which version number, but it seems like just a few versions back was the perfect one.
Ultra Stripped down.
That said, Voogle is pretty much a stripped down BeatLookUp with a shorter buffer. WAY FUN.
Hope that helps.

Re: List of MashUp effects
Not sure if these ones were the first ones, but for me it was the first time that I played with a stutter plug, and it must have been in 2003 or so. It's called Supatrigger, and the guy who made it also made a couple other plugs that were supernice. And later the same guy built the freesound webpage.

And then the next one I had was LiveCut

Re: List of MashUp effects
Cool thread - have any of you tried out the new Buffler Shuffler 2.0? If you haven't yet, then you can grab it as part of the Max for Live Essentials Pack.

Yeah, Buffer Shuffler 2 is cool, reminds me of a live feed Vectory a bit, I like that!
The thing that keeps me from using it that way is the lag when populating the buffer with new audio.
In an ideal world, you could populate the Track with breaks or various audio and mash it up legato style, and Buffer Shuffler would never miss a beat.
Or you could throw Buffer Shuffler on a Return and use it that way.
The way it works now I feel like it's more for processing audio in a production type fashion, less for live mash up.
Still very strong update, lots of great new features.

Re: List of MashUp effects
I see what you mean - in that case, you're probably looking more at something like Beat Repeat. Though, you could also try setting the automatic randomization on some Buffer Shuffler 2.0 features.JuanSOLO wrote:Yeah, Buffer Shuffler 2 is cool, reminds me of a live feed Vectory a bit, I like that!
