Live 8 Suite Library vs. Live 9 Suite Library

Post by stringtapper » Fri Mar 15, 2013 11:03 pm

I seem to be using Live 8's library more than Live 9's because I can't find any of the multitude of audio effect racks that exist in the Live 8 library, like all of the guitar and bass effects racks.

I'm certain that I've downloaded all of the Suite 9 content and every pack associated with my account, but there seems to be a shit-ton of content that I have in the Live 8 library that has been left out of the Live 9 library.

What's up with this? :?

Thanks, but unfortunately it doesn't.

As I said in my post I have already downloaded everything from my "Your Packs" page on my account.

Also now that I've clicked on your link every Ableton page I click on is auf Deutsch! :x :)

Yeah thanks.

While you're here Steve, can you find any of the effects racks in the Live 9 library that were present in the Live 8 library?

You are correct, as far as I can tell there are a lot of Effect racks missing.

In L8 there are around 40 Audio Effects in the Audio Effect Racks/Bass Amp presets for example, and in L9 that category doesn't exist. Only Audio Effect Rack/Amp Simulation with 8 racks in there.

A little odd.

I am having the exact same problem. Looking for the voice processors I normally used under Live 8. They don't seem to exist in Live 9!

So what the hell…?

I rarely complain about anything the Abes do, but this is just silly.

I'm not spending my time merging the two libraries so I can have everything in one place. :x

Seems like 8 & 9 libraries are quite different. It also seems like Ableton hasn't laid down a very convenient path for users to incorporate 8 content into the 9 library.

The knowledge base article on the Live 8 legacy may be of interest to some.

Thanks for the link.
There might be some specific presets or samples you've known from the Live 8 Library that are missing in the Live 9 default content…
Some?

As Angstrom said, there are swaths of audio effect racks that aren't included with Live 9. If Live 9 were my first version I would feel cheated because there are a lot of great effect racks in the Live 8 library.

I am in the process of moving such L8 content to L9.
It's boring but Support told me that a Live 8 Legacy pack is in the making.
In the meantime I am moving that using the Finder.
Mac Studio M1
Live 12 Suite,Zebra ,Valhalla Plugins, MIDI Guitar (2+3),Guitar, Bass, VG99, GP10, JV1010 and some controllers

guys why don't you drag your live 8 library to PLACES.[browser on the left side]
it will not import to live 9, simply scans the folder for use in live 9.
then you will have simple access of your live 8 library without any arm.

Erm, did you try this ? - because that doesnt work . Source: I HAVE done that.
All that does is link them into your "places", not the main category section for Audio Effects, Audio Effect Racks / etc.

Linking your L8 Library doesn't make it appear in the main browser, only in a nested folder in Places/Live 8 Library/etc/etc/etc .
So if you go looking in the big main "category" of your browser they won't be there.

It's just cumbersome. I tried to move some of the Live 8 presets inside the core factory (app-show package content-etc.) and inside the appropriate folder but they don't show up.
