If it sounds like shit, then the user is shit. As stated, if he's heavily warping samples, then he needs to understand the best warp methods. Or maybe become a musician and make his own samples from scratch. Maybe is because I use 3rd party instruments from Native Instruments and EastWest Play, but I like Live's audio quality.

That was my first thought.. I'll bet he has a knob mapped to tempo and ends up on odd tempo values instead of playing the tracks back in their native tempo.

he should at least describe what's the problem... just shouting out such a thing isn't useful for anybody except releasing some anger from the author.

It sounds more like he doesn't want to admit that his production technique mostly just comes down to using this awesome program called Ableton Live.

Its cool to bash a trend. Even if it is the primary weapon in your arsenal haha.

I think tokimonsta pulls the same kind of statement in a djtechtools vid.

maybe because of Live's PDC?

(flylo is going on tour, with Ultraista opening, if it was anywhere with 500 miles i would be going, but, alas)

Yeah PDC is a problem, but then you should have said PDC not sounds bad.

Also, not that im a fan of the guy, i think he's ridiculously overrated. But when i hear his music i def don't hear anything close to pristine audio.

Both you and Flylo should read this:
http://www.image-line.com/support/FLHel ... _audio.htm

(that was just the first such article that came up in a search but there are many many others).

Admittedly people make a lot of bad sounding shit in Ableton and Reason but I've heard stuff in done in Reason that was absolutely humbling. I've seen and heard the results of phase cancellation tests. Same with Ableton. The weakest links in Reason are the stock synths and some of the effects (and users). But audio, Rex files, samples etc sound just fine. And with RE's and the "SSL", these issues are gone or at least there is no excuse. The PX7 and Antidote sound great. The Polysix sounds like the VST. U-he plugins sound like U-he plugins, Softube plugins sound like Softube plugins Etch sounds like Etch and so on.
It's design and functionality might not be for everyone but sound quality is not one of its problems. And if you like CV routing/processing, and modular patching Reason is bloody good fun. you can do all kinds of really distinctive stuff.

From flylos' 2012 spit on ableton blog:

"I've also just really fallen in love with making music again. It feels so new to me, especially because I switched to using Ableton. I feel like I'm finally in a position where I can make things almost as fast as I want to; I can move really quickly, and it's really inspiring.
"Before, whenever I would sample, the process would be so long to chop things up that it would be kind of discouraging. […]But now, I just feel like I have new life in the studio. I've been making new music, and collaborating with people, and just having fun with it."

Perhaps he's ....all outa love.
What a crazy "discussion" on facecrack. Unbelievably funny shit.

I do sound/music to picture for the TV, all in Live, even the mix, with only native devices. And nobody has ever had anything to complain about the quality of my work...
(But, I agree, things do however sound like shit on tv  )

He's right - it's always pumping like there's a limiter on the master. ;-)

Should have been more specific. Was talking more about the onboard synths... Not the sound engine. I haven't checked out Reason since Record has been integrated. Anyway, the onboard synths have always sounded lackluster and needed lots of processing to make them sound good. For instance, load up a sawtooth wave in thor...super bland sounding...
Also, Im pretty sure just the eq and comp on the ssl have been modelled, not the signal path and summing/channel interaction/crosstalk.

But yeah, Im one of those people whoI don't hear a difference between DAWS summing...

Cheers,
Mike

No No...This would have nothing to do with the sound...Automation isn't compensated for , not delay caused by the plugin.
