I wonder if Operator is already at its mature stage, or will there be significant new developments to it in future releases? Interested in whether it is to become a focus for enhancement.

Or is there some other clever plug-in in the Abe lab? A beatslicing grain synth perhaps? Some sort of Ableton Guru?

Or some other form of synthesis than FM?

Go on, give us a hint of what's cooking ...

I kinda like the operator sounds ...nice ...I checked the demo 1/2 h ago , on my laptop 1.33Mhz/1.5ram....the only thing I would like to get better is when you play 2 or 3 keys together I get that crackeling noize in some of the sounds...I guess it's the polyfony of notes that askes alot of my processor and can't handle the sounds.

or do i see this wrong?

can I do something about it or should I need a stronger computer to help me out on this issue? I'm considering a G5 2.5 dual to work with pro Tools Le and Reason & Live at the same time.

I was hesitating when I saw the Operator movie but got convinced after trying the demo....

Hopefully they make many more presets and I think I even will be able to make some of my own, even if i'm not a synthesizer specialist.

I messed around with the Operator Demo when it first came and decided that it is fucking awsome but since I already have Absynth 2 and Reaktor 5(well at the time it was ver.4) that I should just wait and see what happens after all of the yelling and screaming is done.

And low and behold "Operator" is available at a lower price with an upgrade to Live5, which I'm getting on blind faith(have not tried any betas or the demo).

I'll probably get it tomorrow. Before I get too drunk to do important downloads and credit card number advertising over the net.

Some of the Operator patches are indeed heavy on the CPU. However, once you learn to program it, you can see that there are ways to get around this. The easiest way is to reduce the decay of your sounds, and possibly lengthen it with Ping Pong or Simple Delay. After the tutorial, you can easily figure out how to create patches that are 2-5% CPU, which is very reasonable. You can also get tons of presets by searching for "Covert Operators" on the forum - there are now about 650 presets for Operator, and growing. It's definitely worth having.

As for Pro Tools, my mom always said, "If you got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all." So I ain't sayin' shit. At all.

Had been holding way off buying here too, but made the 'mistake' of dinking around with the demo for an hour or so before getting the 5 upgrade and whaddaya know, I'd come up with something in the demo that I didn't want to lose so just 'had' to buy the discounted Operator too at checkout. Hohum, them sneaky Abes and their marketing!

Operator is cool. sounds fat and complex for a 4-op model. And it has some weird aliasing stuff which can be handy to create something which is not possible with like DX7 or FM7. totally different than DX100 for example!

yes, this might be confusing, but you don't need to upgrade Operator if you have the version4.

no. ive just bought live 4 today and im getting the free upgrade to live 5 now but i want to know if i can buy operator (at discount price) even if i get the free live 5 upgrade because its no showing me any options to buy it at discount, it just gave me my free L5 serial
