Live 9 no more can't be synced to midi tempo you've played?!
Live 9 no more can't be synced to midi tempo you've played?!
Hey,
One of my favourite function of ableton is gone, can't sync ableton to my my keyboard playing tempo anymore i'm talking about this: http://audiozaps.com/wp-content/uploads ... eg-bpm.png
Now it appears only in audio section but not midi. Why it was deleted? I want to have it back.
I have to convert midi to audio and then warp it to show me the bpm i was playing, not the end of the world can get used to it. Anyone else missing this feature?
---------
Lets write to ableton support asking why they remove this feature: https://www.ableton.com/en/help/contact-support/
They will notice sooner or later that it's important.

Re: Live 9 doesn't have Seg BPM functio in midi anymore?
Yes it's gone. It's not possible to sync ableton to your free played midi. You only can make your played midi fit to abletons tempo.
I have the same problem. I like to play free and adjust abletons tempo, not the other way. I told them a couple of times that they kill a important feature, but I got no response. I also can't see a reason for that, besides not knowing that is important for some people. Yeah...
workaround: export the midi in L9 and import it in L8 to get your tempo.
important: write it to the support too, the more people complain the better are the chances that we get it back (even tough I don't have much hope)

Re: Live 9 doesn't have Seg BPM functio in midi anymore?
Problem for me too.. Used this quite often to quickly do half-time or double-time parts, edits, re-sampling, etc..
Re: Live 9 doesn't have Seg BPM functio in midi anymore?
And even if you dont want to sync not showing the BPM is quite annoying.
Re: Live 9 doesn't have Seg BPM functio in midi anymore?
Another annoyed user here. I thought it was a bug at first. My workaround has been freezing the midi part, dropping it in an audio track, cutting out the part I want and find the tempo.
Re: Live 9 doesn't have Seg BPM functio in midi anymore?
i see that i'm not alone... Let's keep this thread alive, maybe someone will tell good work around or at least explain the reason why it was removed. I saw the tutorial of how someone changed ableton script and unlocked secret feature of ableton, viewing effects in session view(similar to logic, cubase)
Maybe it's possible to do something similar this, because the feature is there it's still on audio clips, only removed from midi.

Workaround: Freeze and drag midi to audio, use SEG bpm on warping audio set ableton tempo accordingly, then sync midi according ableton.mr.ergonomics wrote:

Re: Live 9 doesn't have Seg BPM function in midi anymore?
prprprpr: I don't think that there is a hack for that. I tried to explain a couple of times very detailed in the beta how important this feature is, but there was not a single official reply to this. I guess they have just decided that it's not important, so they removed it from the GUI to have more space for other functions (even tough there would be enough space for a BPM value imho). I'm really disappointed about it too.
Re: Live 9 doesn't have Seg BPM function in midi anymore?
This is one of the things I find disappointing in Abes 'new' direction.
I miss this 'feature'.
With one hand, they give , the other they take away.
Good to see 'Group to drum rack' back

Ditto, am finding this annoying amongst other things..
WE need the seg BPM function.

"Note Stretch" instead?
Re: Live 9 doesn't have Seg BPM function in midi anymore?
Read again. It's not about stretching it's about syncing ableton to the tempo you have played instead of syncing yourself to ableton.DJ_Zombot wrote:"Note Stretch" instead?

WTF ?? We just don't get it....Push is more important than Anything!!!
Re: Live 9 no more can't be synced to the tempo you've played?!
Does that mean that in a live situation i can't have the drummer command Live's tempo via bassdrum trigger to midi ? And even more, Live won't adjust its tempo to what the drummer is playing ?
