Post by joewalch » Tue Mar 26, 2013 6:43 pm

How do I repair the library in Live 9? The option seems to have disappeared since live 8.

Hi Bud :D

Go to file manager, a window will open and you can repair from there

Thanks but I'm only getting:

Manage Set

Manage Project and

Manage User Library

None of which give me the option to complete repair or rebuild the library, like in Live 8 Preferences>Library>Repair library

Am I missing something?

Well there is a 'manage library' option. Doesn't that give you what you need?

I've installed to Mac however skipped the library scan and set up so I could redirect Live to Live 8 Library. I was unaware Live 9 had a separate library.

Unfortunately The library section is missing for example all my drums and there are no drums in the live 9 library (presumably because I skipped it).

Tried reinstalling but the preferences remain so I can't get it to scan again.

bump...I upgraded to 9 Suite recently and cannot find any samples under drum rack which makes me wonder what else I'm missing. So 8 and 9 have different libraries we have to point to? I just downloaded and upgraded so what are the proper steps in getting everything from 8 into 9???

I have been having a issue that my drum library only shows the core library sounds not and of the sound pack sounds. Also it is not showing my max for live presets from the max for live Pack . I trashed the preferences and it didnt work
LiveSuite 9, Max4live ,Ableton push, MacBookPro 2.2 Quad 2011, Novation Sl Compact49,, Korg Mickontrol
Dynaudio BM5a,UA Apollo duo 2,Yamaha hs8 white,Logic 9,Reason 6, RED TYPE B Mic,KorgPad Kontrol,Liquid Mix,Fender Rhodes 88 .

I also had my drum kit disappear in sounds menu and I cannot repair library. All my clips and samples are silent...I can see the curser move when I double click sample or clip and I can load it into an audio track and hear it, but the preview is not working.

you have to download the sound packs separately from the "your packs" section of your account on the website. i believe the installer just runs the software.

I am missing all kinds of folders from my Live 9 user library, but I think it has to do with the fact that I had/have my Live 8 user Library on a separate drive. In fact, the Live 9 User Library contains only an empty presets folder, however my Live 8 library on my external drive contains all the usual folders - Project Info, Clips etc. Still, everything seems to be working properly, but I'm trying to install Audiomodder software, which allows me to use Push to browse and load Komplete 9 instruments and presets, but I am unable to, because of the missing folders in my Live 9 library. Wish there was some way to repair and resolve this issue........

You shouldn't save or store in the Live 8 library unless you plan on using Live 8.
Reinstall your Live 9 stuff. Live 9 keeps both libraries separate. It already knows what in the 8 library and it has to scan your other folder.

Hey all,

Is there a difference between the Core Library and the User Library? My core library seems to be intact, but I'm not sure what to tell Live to point to for the 9 user library. Is it the same folder, i.e., ProgramData\Ableton\Live 9 Suite\Resources\Core Library?

Thanks in advance. :)

Here's two Knowledge Base articles that should help you: You can not choose the location of the core library, it is literally 'at the core' of your Live installation.

The default locations of installed packs and the User Library are quoted in those articles, and both are created in the user space of your filesystem upon your first installation of Live. You can choose different locations (for example on a dedicated disk), then Live will ask you what to do with the existing libraries - move, copy, or leave alone and create new.

If you're having trouble with your User Library now, look for those default locations first and point live there.
