You're right, there ain't no chords at 1:36.

I think he means the chords in the section beginning after 1:36. They are present throughout the track, but you can hear them best in that section.
First off, I think its an organ sound of some type. They sound like triads to me. Simple 1st inversion triads played by bouncing back and forth on the right and left hand.
Does that sound right? Maybe they can chime in again.
