Pad Sensitivity

Post by Silicium » Thu Mar 28, 2013 6:19 pm

ahoi pushers,

i've got my push yesterday (just before easter vacation, lucky me)
first thing i recognized was, that i have to hit the pads very hard,
its almost impossible for me to play melodies with some instruments.

is there a way to set the sensitivity of the pads? i mean, when i stand
right before the push, its very easy to play but when i sit i have to
hit the pads to hard.

Push/hold "User"
change -> Velocity Curve
or -> Pad Threshold

i put my Pad Threshold to minus - 10

Hope that helps.

by the way, when holding down the User button, i've noticed that knob 5 seems to switch between "Scene Workflow" and "Clip Workflow" settings.

does anyone have any idea what this does?

Yoda says, "The answer to your question is in the manual"

One of the few that are. :wink:

Yoda, the manual says nothing about that. May we use the force?

Download the updated manual from the ableton site.

The one that the live menu gives you is out of date!

I can't find any place on the ableton site to download the latest manual, and I'm running 9.0.2 which is the latest version AFAIK.
My manual mos def has nothing about Clip Workflow etc.

You're a wizard, Harry. I spent about 10-15 minutes searching on google and never came up with that link. But yes, this is the right one.

for me its impossible to play fluently on the pads. like on a standard midi keyboard. i try all seetings. i cant find the perfect settings between "hit real hard to get loud" and "too sensitive and too big accent jumps"

dont know if i'll get ever family with those "hard" pads … :cry:

I use the Velocity in MIDI FX's

set the in and out = 0-127

It's pretty good

see if that'll give you better pad play.

Hope this helps

Sorry they're called the out high and the out low

For example: if you set the both to 115 no matter how hard or soft you hit the pad it'll be 115.
