No pre/post-fader option on master bus?

Post by eldar » Tue Jul 26, 2005 10:19 pm

Hi,

i want to use a limiter (purely to protect my ears, not to increase loudness) on the master output.
In Cubase SX i'd insert a plug-in "post fader", isn't this possible in Live?!

I'm confused...
If i insert a limiter plug-in on the master channel it starts to limit no matter what...
The threshold setting inside the plug doesn't make a difference, the level of the master output doesn't make a difference.
I thought that this means that the fx plug-ins are inserted pre-fader.
In SX i could insert a limiter which would only start to act when the volume got really high accidentally (feedback, weird impulse responses, etc.)

you´re right , I´m dumb , it is pre fader

anyway , try using live´s native compressor instead of the limiter youre using , works fine here , thresh and output do make a difference . . .

edit: using Live's utility plug-in one can use other limiters as well
